Annai Vailankanni College of Engineering, Kanyakumari Admission Process

Annai Vailankanni College of Engineering (AVCE), Kanyakumari, is a reputed institution for offering various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering and management. The college is recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and strictly follows admission policies which are well drafted and unbiased.

Based on the scores of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) conducted by Anna University, undergraduate courses offered by AVCE for BE/B.Tech aspirants are to be filled up almost entirely. This is in consistent with the traditional practice of admission by practically all other engineering institutions set up in Tamil Nadu, mostly on the basis of state or national entrance test scores. Usually, the admission cycle commences as soon as the TNEA results are announced followed by counseling soon after.

Management entrance tests are usually a prerequisite for MBA applicants in addition to TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) or CAT (Common Admission Test). The performance in TANCET is a significant factor for the admission of students into the postgraduate programs in AVCE.

Application Process

For the following programs, the application process followed at Annai Vailankanni College of Engineering differs according to that particular program:

For B.Tech/BE program:

1. Write the TNEA conducted by Anna University.
2. Register for the TNEA counseling process after announcing the results.
3. Choose AVCE along with the desired courses at counseling.
4. If one is allotted, then report to AVCE for document verification and admission formalities.

For MBA program:

1. Appear for TANCET or any other accepted management entrance exam.
2. After announcing the results, register for the counseling process.
3. Attend and choose the AVCE option in case of qualification at the counseling program.
4. Complete the admission process at AVCE if assigned a seat.

For ME programs:

1. For government quota: Participate in TANCA (Tamil Nadu Common admission) counseling conducted by Anna University.
2. For management quota: Entrance exam conducted by the Association of Engineering Colleges.
3. Attend counseling based on the entrance exam results.
4. If selected, complete the admission process at AVCE.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Tech/BE: AVCE offers numerous B.Tech and BE courses, namely Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and Biomedical Engineering. The number of seats for each course is 60. Admissions into the program are offered based on the scores obtained in TNEA and subsequent counseling held by Anna University.

MBA: The MBA program offered by AVCE has a seat intake of 60 marks with admissions basing on the scores obtained in management entrance examinations like TANCET or CAT, then counseling. Total fee for an MBA is approximately Rs. 82,000.

ME: ME programs offered are in Computer Science and Engineering, Thermal Engineering, and Communication Systems. Intake is 24 students per course. Admissions to these programs are conducted through single window counseling by Anna University (TANCA - Tamil Nadu Common Admission) for government quota seats. For management quota seats, admissions are based on entrance exams conducted by the Association of Engineering Colleges.

Documents required for admission generally include:

  • 10th and 12th mark sheets
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Community Certificate (if applicable)
  • Entrance exam score card (TNEA for UG, TANCET/CAT for MBA, relevant exam for ME)
  • Degree certificate and mark sheets (for PG programs)
  • Any other certificates as specified by the institute.
