Dr Nagarathinam's College of Engineering, Namakkal Admission Process

Dr. Nagarathinam's College of Engineering (DRNCE), Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, offers an elaborate admission process for students willing  to study engineering, DRNCE is a constituent college known for providing value-added engineering education. The college follows a merit-based admission system so that deserving students can pursue their engineering career in this college.

The admission process of DRNCE typically starts in the months following the declaration of 12th standard results. The college releases applications for its various undergraduate (BE) and postgraduate (ME) courses. At the undergraduate level, DRNCE provides topmost preference to performance in specific entrance exams and student academic scores.

For UG courses, the eligibility criteria are usually passing 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as the main subjects. For those who apply for PG courses, they should have a bachelor's degree in the relevant engineering field. The cutoffs, along with other eligibility criteria, can vary according to the course and the potential of the applying students in a given year.

Application Process

The following is the application process for Dr. Nagarathinam's College of Engineering:

1. Entrance Exam: For undergraduate studies, the students must appear for the respective state-level or national-level entrance examinations. For postgraduate studies, TANCET is the principal entrance examination.

2. Application Form: Once the entrance exam results are announced, shortlisted candidates may download and fill up the DRNCE application form. 

3. Document Submission: Along with the completed application form, candidates are required to submit a series of documents, which usually include:

  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets
  • Entrance exam score card
  • Transfer certificate
  • Community certificate (if any)
  • Passport size photos

4. Application Fee: Applicants must pay the prescribed application fee. The amount and method of payment will be mentioned in the application form.

5. Counselling: Shortlisted candidates may be called for a counselling session where they may choose their preferred course based on their rank and seat availability.

6. Admission Confirmation: Once a candidate is allocated a seat, they are required to confirm their admission by paying the required fees and submitting the original documents within the given time.

7. Orientation: As a rule, enrolled students must go through an orientation program before the beginning of the first class.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.E. (Bachelor of Engineering): DRNCE offers different courses of B.E. like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering. Admission to the courses is done on the performance of the candidate in relevant entrance tests and in 12th standard marks. The total intake approved for all these courses of B.E. is 330 seats, where the highest number of seats admitted in the course of Civil Engineering is 120 seats.

M.E. (Master of Engineering): Specialized M.E. courses under postgraduate admission are Engineering Design, Structural Engineering, Power Electronics and Drives, Applied Electronics, and Computer Science Engineering, all being provided by DRNCE. Admissions to these are more or less TANCET score based. The college intake is less in the case of the M.E. courses, with 12 each for Engineering Design and Structural Engineering, and 9 each for the rest of the M.E. courses.
