Ganapathy Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology, Ramanathapuram Admission Process

Ganapathy Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology (GCCET), Ramanathapuram and is one of the eminent self-financing colleges in Tamil Nadu that offers engineering and management courses. The college has AICTE recognition and admissions are offered in a systematic way in accordance with the AICTE, Anna University Chennai, and Tamil Nadu Government regulations. The admissions cycle at GCCET is mostly timed with the academic calendar of Anna University, Chennai. The eligibility criteria for the B.Tech programs at GCCET include passing the 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects. For M.Tech programs, applicants should have either a B.E. or B.Tech. degree in a relevant stream, whereas, for MBA, candidates should have an undergraduate degree in any subject from a reputed university.

Application Process

The application for Ganapathy Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology varies for each program:

For the B. Tech Programs:

  1. Register for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling.
  2. Fill the TNEA application form and pay the required fees.
  3. Upload relevant documents as required by TNEA.
  4. Attend TNEA counselling.
  5. Report to the college for document verification and confirmation of admission if a seat at GCCET is offered.

For M. Tech and MBA Programs:

  1. Register for Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET).
  2. Sit for the TANCET exam on the scheduled date.
  3. After the declaration of TANCET results, apply to GCCET via the admission portal of Anna University.
  4. Attend the counselling conducted by Anna University.
  5. Report to GCCET for document verification and admission procedures if selected.

Degree Wise Admission Process

B. Tech: GCCET is offering a total of six B. Tech programs with a total intake of 360. Admission mainly through TNEA Counselling based on performance in the qualifying examination (10+2) and TNEA Ranking. The available B. Tech programs are:

  1. Mechanical Engineering: 60 Seats
  2. Civil Engineering: 60 Seats
  3. Computer Science and Engineering: 60 Seats
  4. Electrical and Electronics Engineering: 60 Seats
  5. Electronics and Communication Engineering: 60 Seats
  6. Information Technology: 30 Seats
  7. Artificial Intelligence and Data Science: 30 Seats

For M.Tech: The college is offering five programs of M.Tech with an aggregate intake of 51 seats on the basis of TANCET score. The following M.Tech specializations are available:

  1. Computer Science and Engineering (12 Seats)
  2. Thermal Engineering (12 Seats)
  3. Communication System (9 Seats)
  4. Embedded Systems (9 Seats)
  5. Power Electronics and Drives (9 Seats)

MBA: The MBA program is available at GCCET with a capacity of 60. The admission for MBA also depends on TANCET scores further backed by counselling according to the norms of Anna University.

Generally, the following documents were required during admission:

  • 10th and 12th mark sheet
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Community Certificate (if applicable)
  • TNEA rank card (for B. Tech)
  • TANCET score card (for M. Tech and MBA)
  • Degree certificate and mark sheets (for Postgraduate programs)
