Gayatri Institute of Science and Technology, Rayagada Admission Process

The Gayatri Institute of Science and Technology, Rayagada (GIST) is one of the most reputed institutes for quality education in pharmaceutical sciences. The admission method to GIST is intended for the selection of qualified candidates across various pharmacy courses. It has a standard admission procedure on the basis of which state-level entrance examinations are the major criteria for entry into both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

For undergraduate entries, GIST takes into account the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination, or OJEE. This exam is held once in every year for admission into all the professional courses, which include pharmacy, under the state of Odisha. The OJEE is expected to be done in the first half of the year, with the results found out shortly after. Prospective candidates are therefore advised to check the official website of OJEE for exact dates and deadlines.

The admission eligibility to B.Pharma courses in GIST provides a direction that, one should have completed a 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics as compulsory subjects. A minimum of 50% marks should have been obtained in an aggregate basis (45% for the reserved categories) by the candidate in the subjects specified.

Application Process

The different admission procedures at Gayatri Institute of Science and Technology, Rayagada are dependent upon any of the programs offered:

For B.Pharma and B.Pharm Lateral-Entry programs:

1. Register for the OJEE examination and appear for it.
2. Fill out the OJEE application form while selecting GIST among the preferred colleges.
3. Qualify in the OJEE with a rank eligible for GIST cut-off.
4. Attend the counseling for the OJEE.
5. Report to GIST for document verification and for completing the admission process, if allotted GIST.

For M.Pharma of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality Assurance:

1. Register for and then appear for the PGAT (BPUT) examination.
2. Fill the PGAT application form, showing preference for GIST.
3. Qualify for the PGAT with a score eligible for GIST.
4. Attend the counseling for PGAT.
5. Report to GIST for document verification and completing the admission process in case of selection.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.Pharma: Selection of candidates for a 4-year B.Pharma degree at GIST is based on OJEE results. There are 100 seats in the institute under the B.Pharma course. Eligible candidates must pass 10+2 examinations under the subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics. They should have also passed the OJEE for admission.

For B.Pharma Lateral Entry: GIST also offers provisions for direct admission into the second year of the B.Pharma course via Lateral Entry. Eligibility for this direct admission process is the same as B.Pharma for other OJEE applicants.

M.Pharma Pharmaceutics: This specialization is offered by GIST and has a strength of 15 seats, with admission determined on the merit basis of candidates at PGAT (BPUT). The qualification needed for degree eligibility in this course should be a B.Pharma from a recognized university.

M.Pharma Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality Assurance: This course is presented in 9 seats for admission based on merit through PGAT (BPUT) examination, as in the same lines as M.Pharma Pharmaceutics.

The documents generally required for securing an admission are mentioned below:

  • OJEE/PGAT rank card and admit card
  • Certificate and mark cards of 10th and 12th
  • For M.Pharma applicant: B.Pharma degree certificate and mark cards
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Domicile certificate (if applicable)
  • Recent passport-sized photographs
  • Any other documents as specified by the institution or admission authority
