The Government College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu offers admission to BE and M.Tech programmes. The courses offered at GCET Jammu are diverse, encompassing Engineering and Architecture, Computer Application, and IT. For GCET Jammu BE admission, is contingent upon the student's performance in state-level entrance examinations. For Government College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu admission to M.Tech programmes, students must possess a valid GATE score. GCET Jammu also provides admission directly to the 3rd Semester of the 4-year BE degree course based on the Common Entrance Test to be conducted by the University of Jammu under the lateral entry scheme.

Eligible students must appear for the Common Entrance Test conducted by the J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE).
Students have to apply online on the official website of the college and shortlisting of the students will be done on the basis of the marks obtained in an entrance test.
Selected students are required to verify documents, pay the admission fee and confirm the admission.
GCET Jammu provides 3 postgraduate programmes in Engineering which is M.Tech in multiple disciplines. GCET Jammu M.Tech course includes Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering as its various streams.

Candidates are required to meet the M.Tech eligibility criteria and then appear for GATE.
In the absence of having an adequate number of candidates with valid GATE scores, the University of Jammu will conduct its own written/online test for admission to the said programme.
After the result declaration, the cutoff will be released and candidates have to fill out the college application form.
The institute will shortlist candidates based on the rank list prepared on the basis of the entrance test.
After preparing the rank list based on GATE scores/percentage of marks, shortlisted candidates have to submit the documents for verification and pay the fees to confirm admission.

Candidates have to submit all the required documents without fail and must take a printout of the application form for future reference.
Rs. 1.15 Lakhs is the fee of the M.Tech course.
Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) conducts the common entrance test for admission to the B.E programmes.
Total 18 seats are available for the M.Tech programme.
For B.E programme, students should have 50% marks in the 10+2 examination or equivalent with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry (Science Group) from the recognised board.
