Government Engineering College, Bellary Admission Process

The Government Engineering College, Bellary (GECB) is a renowned institute established with the main objective of providing good technical education in Karnataka. This college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), having the most transparent and simplest entry procedures, with admissions being conducted by GECB under the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) on the basis of a Government Order.  The common entrance test that is given for GECB admission is the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET). This examination today has been adopted as a standardized examination criterion in assessing the abilities of candidates entering advanced programs in Engineering.

 It is a CES requirement for an applicant desiring admission to GECB to take the KCET and obtain a qualifying score.  In broad terms, the eligibility criteria for admission to GECB are normally that a candidate has completed the 10+2 or equivalent examination with the compulsory subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Also, the candidates should obtain the required minimum marks as per the Karnataka Examinations Authority for that academic year.

Application Process

The application process for Government Engineering College, Bellary, is made easy by KEA. Here, candidates can follow stepwise instructions to be eligible:

1. Register and appear for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) conducted by KEA.

2. After declaring the KCET results, the eligible candidates will undergo the centralized counseling process conducted by KEA.

3. During this counseling, candidates are required to fill in their choices for colleges and courses, including the Government Engineering College, Bellary.

4. KEA will then allot them seat under KCET rank, preferences, and availability of seats.

5. The candidates who have been allotted a seat in GECB will have to report to the college for the verification of documents within the stipulated date and confirm their admission.

6. Pay the required fee and complete the admission formalities at GECB.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Tech: The college offers four B.Tech programs with an intake approved of 60 students each and, therefore, 240 seats in total available across all B.Tech programs. The B.Tech admission process is conducted through KEA on the basis of KCET scores. Some of the B.Tech programs offered are:

  • B.Tech in Civil Engineering: The Civil Engineering program mainly deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the infrastructure. Admissions into this program are based on the KCET merit and done by KEA.
  • B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering: Computer hardware systems study and software development are some of the areas of interest. Candidates are admitted through the KEA process based on their KCET scores.
  • B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering: It deals with design and development of electronic systems and communication technologies. KEA admission will be based on KCET results.
  • B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering: This program deals with the design, manufacture, and maintenance of mechanical systems. Admission is conducted by KEA on the basis of KCET merit.

Eligibility for all B.Tech programs is that a candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent degree with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and the specific eligibility as set by KEA.

 Generally here are the following documents required for the admission process: 

  • KCET Hall ticket and score card; 
  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets and certificates; 
  • Transfer Certificate from the previous institution; 
  • Caste Certificate (if applicable); 
  • Income Certificate (if applicable); 
  • Domicile Certificate; 
  • Recent passport-size photographs.
