HMS Unani Medical College & Hospital Tumkur, established in the year 1998 is one of the affiliated units in Tumkur – Karnataka – India. This institution has Unani medicine and they award the degree of Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS). The college occupies a narrow area of 1.31 acres of land and has a total of 277 students and is taught by 32 committed teachers. HMS Unani Medical College is recognised by the Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM) to maintain quality standard in Unani Medical Education. It hence avails itself a focused curriculum for medical education in as much as is supports practical trainings facilities.

A cafeteria is established on the college to ensure that all student and staff on the college premises are well fed especially those with special needs.

HMS Unani Medical College and Hospital, Tumkur aims mainly at its flagship course called BUMS. This is a six-year full time course, which trains the students to become an Unani practitioner. The college has an approved capacity of 60 students for this programme to support the college’s note of offering quality education through manage class sizes. This enables the institution to harness it’s resources well in a manner that provides sound mastering of Unani systems of treatment. Although the college has only one program, it covers all aspects of this classical form of medicine and prepares students in theory as well as in the practice.
