Infant Jesus College of Engineering and Technology (IJCET) in Thoothukudi provides a very simple admission procedure for the hopeful students for engineering and management disciplines. The college which is located on the Tirunelveli-Thoothukudi National Highway boasts a wide variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs for studies in various fields of Engineering and Management. The admission process at IJCET usually opens for the issuance of application forms for the coming academic year; this announcement is generally made around August-September. Undergraduate admissions are based primarily on the scores obtained in the 10+2 or equivalent examination with an emphasis on the marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. For postgraduate programs like the MBA and M.E. degrees, IJCET accepts Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) scores. 

TANCET is a yearly common entrance test conducted at the state-level for all postgraduate programs in colleges and universities in the state of Tamil Nadu. Eligibility criteria vary, depending on the course. For undergraduate engineering courses (BE), candidates should have taken and cleared 10 + 2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as the main subjects. An ability TANCET score is required for both the MBA and ME programs along with a relevant bachelor degree.  

Application Process

The application process for Infant Jesus College of Engineering and Technology was made simple and straightforward:

1. Get the application form: Interested candidates could obtain the application form from the college's admission office or download it from the official website.

2. Fill in the application form: Fill in all the required fields on the application form in detail. It should include personal details, qualifications, and contact information.

3. Attach needed documents: Along with the application form, candidates are required to submit photocopies of their academic certificates, mark sheets (10th and 12th for BE; graduation certificate and mark sheets for ME and MBA), and other documents as specified by the college.

4. Submit application: Completed applications must be submitted along with all appropriate documents to the admission office of the college before the last date. Applications can be submitted either in person or by post.

5. Entrance Test (for Postgraduate Courses): For MBA and ME, take the TANCET exam by Anna University; register for TANCET separately and observe all guidelines issued by the exam conducting body.

6. Counseling Process (for Postgraduate Courses): After the declaration of the TANCET results, meritorious students will be called for the counseling process to be conducted by Anna University. Counseling will allow the student to select IJCET on the basis of his/her rank and availability of seats.

7. Merit List-based Admission (for Undergraduate Courses): For BE courses, a merit list will be prepared at the college level based on 10 +2 or equivalent examination scores with special reference to Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

8. Verification of Documents: Documents verification will be done on those whose names appear in the list of shortlisted candidates. Do not forget to carry all original documents before this process.

9. Payment of Fees: After successful verification of documents and allotment of seats, fees will be deposited to confirm the candidate's admission.

10. Orientation and Classes: Attend the orientation and then commence your classes according to the schedule set by the college.

Degree Wise Admission procedure

B.E. (Bachelor of Engineering): IJCET offers multiple B.E. programs. The B.E. programs offered in the college are Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Agricultural Engineering. There are 60 students approved under each program. Admission is based on performance in 10 + 2 or equivalent examinations, especially in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

MBA (Master of Business Administration): The number of sanctioned intake for the MBA program is 60 students. Admission to this program is based on the candidate's TANCET score processed through the Anna University counseling process.

M.E: (Master of Engineering): IJCET offers M.E. courses in CAD CAM, as well as Computer Science and Engineering for which admission is through TANCET and Anna University counseling, and each has an intake of 18 students.
