Jayam College of Engineering and Technology (JCET), is a renowned college in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu. The college offers a vast range of engineering and management courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The JCET admission process is generally concurrent with the Tamil Nadu university schedule. For engineering programs, CEET scores are given weightage by the college. Admission to postgraduate engineering is based on the Common Engineering Entrance Test for Admission to Postgraduate programmes (CEETA-PG). For MBA and MCA programs, JCET accepts TANCET scores.
Eligibility criteria vary based on programs. For undergraduate engineering courses, the applicants must have passed 10+2 with Science subjects, i.e., Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Postgraduate applicants must have a relevant bachelor's degree in engineering or technology. MBA and MCA applicants must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline with the required minimum percentage as per Tamil Nadu state norms.
Application Process
The Jayam College of Engineering and Technology application process varies according to the course:
For B.E./B.Tech courses:
1. Qualify in Common Engineering Entrance Test (CEET).
2. Register for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counseling process.
3. Select JCET and preferred courses at the time of counseling.
4. In case a seat is allotted, visit JCET for document verification and fee payment.
For M.E./M.Tech courses:
1. Appear for the CEETA-PG test.
2. Register on the Tamil Nadu Common Admissions (TANCA) website.
3. Report to counseling if chosen.
4. Complete admission process at JCET if seat is granted.
For MBA and MCA programs:
1. Register and sit for the TANCET exam.
2. Apply online through the TANCET application portal after sitting for the test.
3. Report for counseling if selected based on TANCET marks.
4. If selected, complete the admission process at JCET.
Degree wise Admission Process
B.E./B.Tech: JCET offers seven degree courses in engineering, i.e., Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics, and Aeronautical Engineering. Admission is offered based on CEET scores. Total intake for B.E. programs is 420 seats, out of which Civil, Mechanical, and Electronics and Communication Engineering have the highest intake of 90 seats each.
M.E./M.Tech: There are seven postgraduate engineering programs provided by the college, i.e., Computer Science and Engineering, Applied Electronics, Engineering Design, Thermal Engineering, Structural Engineering, Power Electronics and Drives, and Information Technology. The admissions are done according to CEETA-PG scores. There is an intake capacity of 9 seats for each of the M.E. programs, and M.Tech Information Technology has an intake capacity of 5 seats.
MBA: JCET's MBA course has an intake capacity of 60 seats. Admission is based on TANCET scores, and counseling is conducted by Anna University.
MCA: JCET's Master of Computer Applications course has an intake capacity of 30 seats. Admission is based on TANCET scores and further counseling.
