LMEC Madurai Admission Process

Latha Mathavan Engineering College (LMEC), Madurai, is a government-recognized AICTE-approved affiliated institution. The institution provides various courses in engineering at UG and PG levels. LMEC Madurai follows a simple admission process aimed at choosing meritorious students for its courses. The college accepts admissions mostly through the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) for postgraduate courses.

Eligibility requirements for undergraduate courses are usually successful 10+2 with core subjects as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. For the master's program (ME CAD CAM), applicants ought to have a suitable bachelor's degree in engineering.

Application procedure in Latha Mathavan Engineering College, Madurai, varies with the course:

For B.E. Courses:

1. Candidates who have cleared their 10+2 with Maths, Chemistry, and Physics are eligible to apply.

2. The process of application will be as per the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) process and will involve:

  • Registration online on the website of TNEA
  • Filing the application form with the candidate's personal and educational details
  • Uploading supporting documents

For M.E. CAD CAM Programme:

Degree wise Admission Process

B.E. (Bachelor of Engineering): The LMEC Madurai has five B.E. courses with an intake capacity of 315 seats. The courses will probably admit based on Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counseling, taking into account the marks secured in the Higher Secondary Examination (HSC). The courses and their capacities are as follows:

  • Mechanical Engineering: 90
  • Civil Engineering: 60
  • Computer Science and Engineering: 90
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering: 30
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering: 45

M.E. (Master of Engineering): The college provides an M.E. in CAD CAM with an intake of 7 seats. Admission to the course is carried out on the basis of the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET). The procedure for admission is as follows:

1. The applicant has to appear for the TANCET test carried out by the consortium.
2. Candidates are called for counseling on the basis of TANCET marks.
3. Final selection is done on the basis of the counseling process and the candidate's performance in TANCET.

The documents to be demanded in the application process usually are:

  • 10th and 12th mark sheets
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Community Certificate (if required)
  • TANCET score card (in the case of M.E. programme)
  • Mark sheets and degree certificate (if M.E. programme)
  • Passport size photographs
  • Other certificates according to the institute norms
