MIMER Pune Admission Process

MIMER, Pune: A medical institute in the State of Maharashtra. Admission procedure to MIMER is highly merit-based and through competitive examination which follows standardized national procedures set up by the appropriate authorities for the nation's medical education. For undergraduate admissions, MIMER accepts students based on their performance in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG). This national-level examination is mandatory for all aspiring medical students across India. The NEET-UG scores are used to determine eligibility and merit for the MBBS program at MIMER.

Admission to postgraduation in MIMER is done for the entrance examination of NEET-PG. This is the entrance test for specialized streams for the medical graduates after completing their graduation in medicine and surgery.

Basic Eligibility Criteria MBBS The main eligibility criteria for admission to an MBBS program are successful completion of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as core subjects. For PG programs, a candidate must have completed his MBBS degree from a recognized institute and completed his mandatory internship period.

MIMER strictly follows the admission schedule as per the national medical education calendar. NEET-UG usually takes place once in a year. The exam dates are usually in the month of May, and results are declared in the month of June.

Application Process

The application process to MIMER, Pune, varies with different programs.

For MBBS:

  1. Qualify NEET-UG with a score above the cut-off.
  2. Register for the state-level counseling process.
  3. Fill up the online application form with proper personal and academic details.
  4. Upload all the required documents, including the NEET-UG score card, 10+2 mark sheets, and other certificates as specified.
  5. Pay the application fee online.
  6. Attend the counseling sessions as per the allotted schedule.
  7. If offered a seat, report to MIMER for document verification and admission formalities.

For MD/MS Programs:

  1. Pass NEET-PG with percentile above the qualifying percentile.
  2. Get yourself registered for All India Quota (AIQ) or state quota counseling whichever is applicable.
  3. Online application at MIMER along with all details and preferences.
  4. Scanned copies of the following documents should be uploaded, such as MBBS degree, completion certificate of internship, and NEET-PG score card.
  5. Pay the prescribed application fee.
  6. Attend counseling process as scheduled.
  7. If selected, report to MIMER for document verification and admission procedures.

Degree wise Admission Process

MBBS: The flagship program at MIMER, MBBS, offers 150 seats. Admission is strictly based on NEET-UG scores. Candidates must clear the NEET-UG exam and meet the eligibility criteria set by the NMC and MIMER. The selection process involves centralized counseling conducted by state authorities.

MD Programs: MIMER offers several MD specializations in General Medicine, Community Medicine, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Dermatology Venereology and Leprosy, Anaesthesiology, and Psychiatry. Admission to these programs is through NEET-PG and then through counseling. Seats vary for every specialization, with a minimum of 1 seat to a maximum of 4 seats per course.

MS Courses: The institute offers MS courses in General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, ENT, and Anatomy. Just like MD programs, admissions to the institute are on the basis of NEET-PG scores. Seat intake ranges from 1 to 6 in various specializations.

At the time of admission, following documents are required

All admission documents generally include:

  • NEET score card (UG or PG as may be applicable)
  • Mark sheet of 10th and 12th
  • MBBS degree certificate with mark sheet for PG courses
  • Completion certificate of internship for PG courses
  • Valid ID proof
  • Domicile certificate, if required
  • Caste certificate, wherever necessary
  • Recent passport size photos
  • Other certificates, as applicable to the case by the counselling authority/institute
