Ponnaiyah Ramajayam College of Engineering and Technology, Thanjavur: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

PRCET or  Ponnaiyah Ramajayam College of Engineering and Technology is one of the young engineering colleges of South India which is functioning in Thanjavur since 2006. This co-educational institute is an affiliated college providing various engineering courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. PRCET is providing education with 116 dedicated professionals faculty members to improve and guide the students’ successes. The college provides 6 courses in 2 undergraduate programmes which include Electronics and Communication engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Electrical and Electronics engineering, and Civil engineering programme.

PRCET is proud to offer a broad range of learning opportunities to students. The campus has well equipped infrastructural facilities to organise academic and co-curricular activities. The college library is a rich source of information centre equipped with number of subject books, general books, newspapers and magazines. The students are welcome to fully engage in these resources as a means to improve on their learning. For physical education and athletic students, the college provides Department of Physical Education where it conducts different sports activities. The college use government grant to help augment equipments. It also has well equipped laboratory for each of the branch and students are also provided with practical working knowledge of the systems.

The institute lays down 6 courses in total. Five of them are B.Tech courses and one M.Tech course offered as full-time courses. The B.Tech programmes take four years to complete while the M.Tech programme takes two years. The total approved intake capacity of all the courses put together is four hundred and forty–four seats. Out of all the B.Tech programmmes, Electronics and Communication engineering, and Mechanical engineering have the highest admission limit of 120 and 100 respectively, followed by Computer Science and Engineering , Electrical and Electronics engineering, Civil Engineering has 60 intake each. The admission capacity in the M.Tech programme in Manufacturing Engineering is 24 seats.

Admission criteria for PRCET programmes are different from each other. In case of the B.Tech programmes, the college accepts the scores of the Common Engineering Entrance Test and Admission (CEETA). The M.Tech Manufacturing Engineering programme particularly employs CEETA-PG for admissions.
