Ponnaiyah Ramajayam College of Engineering and Technology, Thanjavur Admission Process

Ponnaiyah Ramajayam College of Engineering and Technology (PRCET), Thanjavur, is an engineering institution of great repute. The college has a wide spectrum of undergraduate and postgraduate engineering programs, with the emphasis on imparting knowledge through its conscientious faculty of 116 professionals. The admission process of PRCET selects the well-deserved candidates into all its engineering disciplines.

The admission cycle at PRCET usually tails the academic session, with applications being opened during months preceding the academic program. For undergraduates, PRCET considers the Common Engineering Entrance Test and Admission (CEETA) for admitting students, while the postgraduate admission would be through the CEETA-PG examination for the M.Tech course.

The general eligibility for an undergraduate program includes the successful completion of a 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects. It is required for a candidate to have completed an appropriate bachelor's degree in engineering or technology for the M.Tech program.

Application Process

The application process for Ponnaiyah Ramajayam College of Engineering and Technology, Thanjavur, varies according to the program:

For B.Tech programs:

1. The Common Engineering Entrance Test and Admission (CEETA) must be undertaken.
2. On declaration of the CEETA result, eligible candidates get to apply to PRCET.
3. Application forms available on the College website could be filled in or obtained from the admission office.
4. Completed application forms should be submitted together with other requisite documents and application fees.
5. Prepare for either the merit list or the call for counseling as per the CEETA score.

For M.Tech Manufacturing Engineering:

1. Candidates will have to present themselves at the CEETA-PG examination.
2. After the results of the CEETA-PG are out, eligible candidates will get to apply to PRCET.
3. The M.Tech application form could be filled online, downloaded from the college website, or obtained from the admission office.
4. The filled application along with any required documents and fees must be submitted on or before the stipulated dates.
5. The college may provision for further selection processes like interviews or written tests. 

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.Tech: The PRCET offers five disciplines of B.Tech, whose total intake equals 400 seats. The disciplines include Electronics and Communication Engineering (120 seats), Mechanical Engineering (100 seats), Computer Science and Engineering (60 seats), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (60 seats), and Civil Engineering (60 seats). Admission to these disciplines is based on CEETA scores. Candidates who have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics shall be eligible to apply.

M.Tech: Manufacturing Engineering is an M.Tech program of the college, with a total intake of 24 seats. Admissions into this program are through CEETA-PG examination. Candidates having a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline of engineering will be eligible for this program. The selection process may include the scoring of CEETA-PG, along with any other criteria according to the institute.

Generally required documents for the application process include the following:

  • Completed application form,
  • CEETA/CEETA-PG score card,
  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets,
  • Degree certificates and mark sheets (for M.Tech applicants),
  • Transfer certificate,
  • Migration certificate (if applicable),
  • Caste certificate (if applicable),
  • Recent passport size photographs.
