PR Engineering College, Thanjavur (PREC): It is one of the notable engineering institutions providing undergraduate and postgraduate programs in several engineering disciplines and is well-acknowledged. PREC takes up a fair and transparent process of admissions which gives all eligible candidates equal opportunities for admission into the college. PR Engineering College conduct admissions every year in the months of May-June depending on the academic year beginning around August-September. The admission for undergraduate engineering courses is done based on the JEE Main scores, thereby adhering to norms followed in many other Indian engineering colleges, thus making it possible for students from all states in India to get into PREC.
Under the MCA and ME courses, students are also considered for entry into the college based on performance in TANCET. TANCET is conducted every year and the dates are generally notified on the official Anna University website.

PR Engineering College, Thanjavur has different policies regarding application procedures for the various academic programs:
For B.E.-B.Tech programmes:
1. Qualify JEE Main examination.
2. Apply through Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling process.
3. Choose PR Engineering College and preferred courses during the counselling.
4. If allotted a seat, report to the college for document verification and fee payment.
For MCA and M.E programmes:
1. Qualify in the TANCET examination.
2. Apply through the Tamil Nadu Common Admissions (TANCA) process.
3. Attend the counselling process and choose PR Engineering College.
4. Report to the college as per the admission formalities after selection.
Degree specific Admission process
B.E. (Bachelor of Engineering): B.E. degrees offered by PREC include Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering; Civil; Mechanical; and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Admission to these courses is based on the score in JEE (Main) and the total intake is 60 each for CSE, ECE, Civil and Mech, while EEE has a total of 30 seats.
B.Tech: B.Tech programs often stand by virtue of seats in the 30 area of interest. JEE (Mains) scores also provide access to this facility.
MCA: This portion of the college gives MCA coursework with a limit of 60. This program draws admissions from TANCETS, and eligible candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline alongside Mathematics at 10+2 level or graduation.
M.E.: The college ensures a seat of 24 for students taking M.E. in Communication Systems. Admissions into the coursework are from TANCET Scores. The eligibility criteria underpin applicants with a relevant bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology.
