Raidighi College, Kolkata Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college has its own Women’s Hostel, ‘Nivedita Bhavan’ which is yet to accommodate its first batch of residents. The hostel is situated just opposite the Main Building of the college, on the other side of the road. It has a capacity of 100 girl students. The provision of the hostel will hopefully encourage the girl-students who come from far to accommodate themselves here and avoid the strenuous journey from home.

The college has uninterrupted internet accessibility. The teaching fraternity, as well as the students, can use internet services as per their academic necessity. The college has wifi accessibility too.

The College library procures books, journals and study materials on the recommendations of the faculty members and demands of the students. A budget is prepared by the Library Committee as per the grant allocated for the purpose. Then, Executive Body of the Library instructs all the departments to prepare the requisition form stating the requirements of books and journals. Quotations and tenders are invited by the Purchase Committee and then the decision is taken by them. After the purchase, entry of the books and cataloguing are done.

The college has a departmental-based laboratory facility for the students.

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.

The college has a canteen of its own, providing the students and the staff with much-needed refreshments amidst their busy schedules, in the form of healthy and inexpensive, affordable food items. Along with breakfast and lunch meals, the canteen provides soft drinks and tea also.

The college assists the students in times of medical emergency with the help of its Students’ Health Care Unit. The Unit consists of two parallel working bodies. One is the First Aid Cell which takes care of the students during a medical emergency on the college premises.

The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.

The college has a Gym facility for the students.

The college has sports facilities for all students.

The college has a cordial relationship with its alumni. The college is only 21 years old now, and the alumni strength is not great. Yet, even among only a handful of alumni, there are notable and successful ex-students who keep coming to the college out of their love and respect. Thus, in its twenty-first year, the college intends to organize the First Reunion centrally. However, there are individual departmental reunions organized by a few departments for now where the ex-students participate. There is a committee in the college assigned to take care of the matters of a feasible central reunion. The committee consists of Prof. Sudhin Sinha, Prof. Bidyut Saha, Prof. Supriti Sarkar, Prof. Shakuntala Ghosh, Mr. Shaktipada Jana, and Mr. Utpal Dutta, headed by Dr. Manabkanti Baidya, and Prof. Swarup Purkait.

The college has a boys’ hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students.
