Shri Angalamman College of Engineering and Technology, Tiruchirappalli Admission Process

Shri Angalamman College of Engineering and Technology (SACET), Tiruchirappalli, is a premier institution for quality engineering education in different disciplines of engineering. It is affiliated to Anna University and has an organized admission process in order to select deserving candidates for the undergraduate engineering programs of the college. Admission to SACET is almost entirely through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, which is the entrance examination held nationally for engineering admissions in India.

SACET's admission cycle generally coincides with that of the JEE Main examination schedule, which is conducted twice a year by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Once again, tracking the JEE Main application dates is essential. These dates are announced in the months preceding the examination. The results will be declared about a month post-examination, serving as the primary basis upon which SACET will decide admissions.

Candidates must pass their 10+2 or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with eligibility to apply. SACET lays special stress on the marks scored in these core subjects. The total number of seats offered by the institution in these undergraduate engineering programs is 212 in all. Admission is therefore based on the candidate's JEE Main score, academic performance at 10+2, and the counseling that follows JEE Main results.

Application process

The application process for admission into Shri Angalamman College of Engineering and Technology, Tiruchirappalli involves the following stages:

1. Register for JEE Main: Candidates must register and take JEE Main organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA). This is fundamental as admission to SACET mainly draws on JEE Main scores.

2. JEE Main Examination: Applicants must sit for the JEE Main on the date scheduled. This examination is a knowledge test in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

3. Results Declaration: After the JEE Main results are announced, candidates should check score and rank before proceeding to the next step.

4. Counselling Registration: Successful candidates will have to register for the counselling session. This will include filling out an online application form at the counselling website.

5. Document Verification: Short-listed candidates shall have to submit documents for verification. These generally include: -

  • JEE Main score card
  • 10th and 12th mark sheets
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Domicile certificate (if required)
  • Any more documents specified by the institute

6. Choice Filling: Candidates will fill their choices during course and college allocation counselling.

7. Seat Allotment: Admission will be based on JEE Main rank, choices filled and available seats will be allotted to candidates in various programmes.

8. Fee Payment: After seat allotment, the candidate has to deposit the necessary amount to secure admissions into the college.

9. Reporting to the Institute: Seat allocation and fee payment complete the admission process; candidates must now report to SACET on the date specified along with all original documents for final admission formalities.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Tech: A total of five B.Tech programs are listed under the purview of SACET, which offers a total intake of 212 seats. All B.Tech programs are based on JEE Main scores for admission. Admission requires completion of 10+2, with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, as core subjects, while the B.Tech programs include the following:

2. Mechanical Engineering (60 seats)

3. Electronics and Communication Engineering (30 seats)
