Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology provides certain facilities to the students and faculty members of the institute including computer lab, counselling services, auditoriums, group discussion halls, interview halls, transportation, hostels, labs, central library etc. Detailed description of all the facilities provided to the students and faculty members of the University are mentioned below.

Computer Lab- The Computer Lab of Vel Tech, Chennai acts as the central unit for the Institute with systems provided with all updated software and applications meeting the requirements of technology. The computer centre is also provided with internet facilities.
Counselling Services- Students are provided counselling sessions by trained counsellors regarding their academics and choosing the right career path. Students are provided with correct advice and are helped in building their confidence, personality for more career opportunities. Students are also helped in preparing themselves better for interviews for job opportunities. Took biotechnology to escape maths but, then it accompanied me.
Auditoriums- Multiple auditoriums are provided which have a seating capacity of 5000, 1000, 500 and 100 persons respectively and are well equipped with all modern facilities where all important conferences and presentations are conducted.
Group Discussion Halls- All group discussions and assessments are conducted here.
Interview Halls- Interview Halls of Vel Tech, Chennai are provided with WiFi and LAN facilities where all interviews are conducted.
Transportation- Students and faculty members of Vel Tech, Chennai are also provided with transportation facilities. Students and other members of the Institute who want to avail the transport facilities must board buses on time as per the time schedule of different routes. Bus facilities are also provided by the institute for industrial visits and social service activities.
Hostels- Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology provides separate hostels to boys and girls. Students have to fill the application forms for hostels separately and rooms are allotted based on the availability. All the hostel rooms are provided with basic furniture and facilities. Facilities for various indoor games, TV, generator, hot water and laundry are also available. Mess facilities are also available for hostellers which serves good quality and hygienic veg food to students.
Health Centre- There is a health centre provided inside the campus which has well trained medical doctors to provide medical treatment to students and staff. Patients are transferred to nearby hospitals and nursing homes in case of any emergency.
Laboratories- The institute has provided labs for different subjects for conducting practical experiments and students to do their project works. All the labs are well organised and equipped with necessary equipment. Lab technicians are also there to guide and help students.
Central Library- The central library of Vel Tech, Chennai is well equipped with a huge collection of books, CD-ROMs, databases, thesis, journals, project reports, micro documents etc.

Boys Hostel
The College has a Boys Hostel with excellent hostel facilities ensure free cross ventilation and a hygienic environment surrounded by a vast expanse of lush green lawns, coconut, and mango groves. Medical/Hospital
The College has a Medial facility. Students' Health care Centre is located on the campus within easy reach of all the students. It is attended by a full-time Medical Superintendent and part-time qualified Specialists in General Medicines. If a student is ill he/ she will immediately be taken to a hospital nearby in an ambulance. None another college will provide this special facility. It has enough beds for taking care of ill students with the attached toilet inside the medical room.
Gym
The college has a Gym facility for the students.
Library
The college has a library facility for all students. A Central library has been built to international standards, well-protected with fire safety, specialized collection of books, journals & Non-Book materials are available in Basic Sciences. Engg and Sciences, S & H and Biomedical The Collection 18754 volumes of Books, 3495 Titles, 372 CDs are available. The Central Library subscribes 42 National & International journals and 11400 E-Journals Subscription. The subscribed E-Resources are IEEE(ASPP), Springer’s (EEE), Wiley Blackwell, access at discounted McGraw-Hill, J-GATE Engg, Elsevier, ASTM(DL). Sports
The college has sports facilities for all students. Vast indoor and outdoor playfields.
I.T Infrastructure
The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students. A dedicated computer center with 24*7 internet access in each hostel block.
Cafeteria
The college has a canteen facility for staff and students.
Auditorium
The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars. Auditorium inside the girl's hostel.
Transport Facility
The College has nearly 68 buses are plying from various places for the welfare and development and of the students. Buses will take the students and faculties from different areas and make them reach the college in time. Students will be monitored by a BMO (Bus Monitoring Officer) on each and every bus. All the buses are equipped with good infrastructure and operated in good condition. We have separate MH and VH series for the group of institutions. VH buses are meant Vel R.S Trust students. T-Cards will be issued to the students according to the distance between routes such as R1, R2, R3, and bus fees will differ for the routes.
Laboratories
The college has a departmental based laboratory facility for the students.
Guest Room/Waiting Room
The college has a guest house/waiting room facilities for visiting faculty and student family members.

No, the admissions in Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr Sagunthala R and D Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai are based on the VTUEEE exam. Candidates having 60% marks in MPC/BPC in 10+2 are eligible for direct admissions and they do not have to appear for the entrance examination. Other students who have an HSC qualification need to appear, register and secure a valid rank in the VTUEEE conducted by the college. The candidate will get shortlisted in the merit or rank list for admissions. The college was established in 2008 under the approval of the University Grants Commission and accreditation of the NAAC.
