What is AI and Robotics
AI and Robotics is a specialisation of computer science engineering that majorly relies on the principle of artificial intelligence and encompasses the process involved from designing the prototype to building the final resourceful output. Candidates who are fascinated by the idea of robotic mechanics are most suitable for this course. B.Tech. and M.Tech are some of the most popular degrees to pursue for this course.
AI and Robotics is a unique career path that can lead you to success. Today there is growing concern over the fact that AI and Robotics is going to snatch away existing jobs. We cannot change the course of progress. But we can adapt ourselves with the changing nature of the job-world. True that AI and robotics is going to replace many jobs, AI itself will need development, maintenance and sales. Artificial Intelligence and robotics courses are therefore going to be a life-saver in the future.

Eligibility Criteria (UG & PG) of AI and Robotics
Eligibility for AI and Robotics UG and PG courses:
After class 12, students willing to study AI and robotics in B. Tech or M. Tech have to first qualify JEE Advanced with decent marks above the set cutoff to get admission in IITs and top NITs. For AI and robotics postgraduate programmes, students are required to take the GATE examination and then after counselling and interview, they can enroll themselves into a college offering either an AI and robotics focused undergraduate course or postgraduate programme in AI and robotics. Some premier institutes may have their own entrance examination and admission procedure. The candidates must stay updated on the news of the same and fill in the application forms as soon as they are made available on respective institute’s portal.
Eligibility for AI and Robotics UG
The aspirants aspiring to have a degree in AI and robotics, are required to study physics, chemistry, maths in their subject combination at the 10+2 level and must have passed the boards with more than 70% marks in aggregate. Knowledge of coding will be helpful which is soon going to be a part of the K-12 curriculum in India.
Must have completed class 12th from a recognised board with subjects like physics, chemistry, and mathematics as a part of the non-medical stream along the minimum aggregate marks-40-50%.
Undergraduate Degrees for AI and Robotics course range from B.sc to B.E. and B.Tech. Hence, the subjects swing between physics and maths.
Some universities have their entrance examination, and any potential candidate is required to reach the minimum cut off released before the commencement of admission to AI and robotics courses.
Top Entrance Exams for UG courses:
Apart from passing the senior secondary exam, students also need to pass the entrance test of the institute of their choice to get admission into AI and Robotics courses. As said earlier, universities such as Sharda or LPU have their own entrance tests. Apart from the independently organised entrance test, the scores of the national level entrance tests like JEE are also taken into account in case one does not wish to sit for the institute organised entrance test. However, there are universities like Srinivas University that have no entrance exams.
JEE Main - This is a national level engineering entrance exam conducted to screen eligible candidates for admission into various AI and robotics undergraduate engineering courses in premier colleges and institutes.

The eligibility criteria fixed by IIIT- Kottayam is a little strict - You need to have a year of working experience in the related field along with 60% marks in B.Tech. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham requires B.E or B.Tech in Computer Science or MCA or M.SC in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
For entry in courses like M.Tech, ME, the candidates should have a bachelor's degree in the required line from a recognised institution.
Must have scored at least 50-60% aggregate in the relevant bachelor's degree like mechanical engineering, Robotics engineering, Electronics engineering, etc.
State-level and national level entrance exams are annually held for aspiring candidates. Some of these entrances like GATE have common eligibility criteria across all universities.
Top Entrance Examination for PG Courses:
Top IITs and NITs offer some of the best research courses and M.Tech degree programs in AI and Robotics. In order to get admission to IITs and NITs for PG, students are required to clear the entrance examination, popularly known as GATE. The detailed description of GATE is provided below:
GATE - Graduate aptitude test in engineering common national level exam conducted annually to test engineering aptitude of people who want to seek admission postgraduate AI and robotics engineering courses. The applications usually begin in September.

Scope of AI and Robotics in India and Abroad
Traditional computers work on the input/output basis - you get output based on what you input. All the work done by computers today are basically the results of inputs. AI and robotics aims to change this. It is going to save the companies a huge amount of money every year. The takers for AI and robotics will come in droves. Even in its nascent stage, many reputed companies like Amazon or Facebook have already started implementing AI-based systems. The demand for AI and robotics (and hence AI experts) will increase phenomenally. Especially in the initial years, the demand will be greater than supply. And this is not what is expected in India only but globally too.
Hence the scope and suitability of Automation and Robotics are expanding. This system is also widely used in dropping large materials from one place to another. According to sources, the growth potential of AI and Robotics will just increase over time due to the current need.
