What is Aircraft Maintenance Engineering
Aircraft maintenance engineering is a course offered only by a few institutes. It deals with the maintenance, upgrading and quality assurance of an aircraft. Aircraft maintenance engineering is a four-year course and approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). After the successful completion of aircraft maintenance engineering, engineers can work in government or private organisations in aviation. Designing and manufacturing of an aircraft are learnt in this course.
Aircraft maintenance engineering is neither a degree nor a diploma course; it is a licensing course after which DGCA issues a license as an aircraft maintenance engineer. Before the flight takes-off, the flight's aircraft maintenance engineers ensure that the systems are in good condition. Safety is checked by Aircraft maintenance engineering graduates, and they play a critical role in the aviation sector. Mechanical and avionics are the two streams this course can be divided into.

Upcoming trends
Technological Innovations: Technology has transformed the way aircraft were maintained and the credit goes to Aircraft maintenance engineering . 3D printing and use of artificial intelligence robots are a few applications of technology in aircraft maintenance. Robots are used to inspect cracks and defects in aircraft. Technicians are relieved and can concentrate on other tasks when robots do this.
Fleet Growth: Aircraft deliveries are predicted to increase rapidly in the next 10 years. Due to this, the technical shortage is complicated. Consequently, the old craft retires soon and technology is opted for. Courses train students to lead aircraft management and tackle these problems.
Big Data: Within five years from now, 38,000 new aircraft will be in operation across the world. They would produce many times more data than today's aircraft. MROs are turning to big data, machine learning and artificial intelligence as they are the emerging information technologies.
