UPES B.Sc Admissions 2025
ApplyRanked #46 amongst Universities in India by NIRF | Ranked #1 in Academic Reputation in India by QS World University Rankings
Dear Aspirant,
The exact admission situation depends on a number of unpredictable factors like the preferences of students, the number of students willing to take admission and the seat matrix of the college.
There are about 1300 seats for candidates entering via IAT and about 130 seats are reserved for EWS candidates
Looking at this data we can say that you have a decent chance of getting into Tirupati, Berhampur and a small chance of getting into TVM, Mohali campus.
Kolkata is one of the most preferred campuses and hence it is quite difficult to get into IISER Kolkata.
Please check the link below for more details.
Hope this helps
Dear Aspirant,
It is quite hard to predict the exact situation as it depends on the number of students willing to take admission in the college and the seat matrix of the college.
There are 200 seats in Pune and about 20 are reserved for EWS candidates.
Going by this trend we can say that you have a good chance of getting into Pune campus in further rounds.
Keep in mind that Pune is one of the most preferred branches of IISER and hence is highly competitive so there might a lower chance of people dropping the seat in Pune.
So, please be prepared to go to IISER Kolkata as well.
Hope this helps.
Dear Aspirant,
It is quite hard to predict the exact situation as it depends on the number of students willing to take admission in the college and the seat matrix.
There are about 1700 seats in IISER and about 1300 are reserved for IAT Candidates. Looking at this trend we can say that you have a really good chance of getting into IISER.
IISER Kolkata is one of the most preferred IISERs and hence it might be slightly difficult to get into it. You have a really good chance of getting IISER TVM or Mohali. You might get Kolkata in the last or post allotment rounds.
We do not have any official cutoff details from IISERs and hence the predictions are based on the previous year observed trends.
Hope this helps.

Hello Priyajit. You mentioned you belong to GEN-EWS category and that you want to know whether you may get admission in IISER, Kolkata on the basis of your JEE Advanced result.
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) intakes applicants on the basis of either of the three channels/mediums -
General category candidates must secure an Overall AIR within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2021 while the Category Rank of Reserved Category candidates (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD), should be within 10000.
You mentioned your CRL-AIR is 9682 as well as your Category Rank is 1157. You should worry less as you are going to have good window of opportunity to get admission at any branch of IISER (including IISER Kolkata). Joint Action Committee and IISER Thiruvananthapuram will release the merit list and cutoff of IISER 2021 for IISER admission 2021.

Hi
Once the correction window is closed they don't allow any changes so you will have to stick with whatever you have filled in right now. Moreover all IISERs are equally good. You can try your luck in counselling though.
All the best!

Hello dear
So basically there is no much difference between NISER and IISER , both are very good in all perspectives.
But as you highlighted research in physics, you must opt the one which would help to give a great outcome at the end .
I'll tell the difference only keeping in mind - physics department
At IISER ,students will follow a common curriculum for the first 2years and then start to specialize ,whereas at NISER students start to specialize in their second year .
The physics department at NISER is really very good and can expect very good outcome, if there is a hardwork from your side.
But at the end it's your choice, both are good ,only when physics matters for researching NISER has good physics faculty compared to IISER .
Any queries drop down in the comment box
Good luck !
Hello Aspirant,
Seeing your marks of IISER Aptitude test, it is difficult to say which IISER you may get, whether Pune or Kolkata.
Since seeing and considering the previous years cutoff of both these colleges, which ranges from 110 to 180 previously, they vary each year depending on what your score, category and rank is.
Seat availability also plays a vital role since every IISER has 200 seats.
hello,
the cut-off for IISER test is not a constant. It depends on the performance of the applied students which changes every year. The difficulty is usually about the JEE mains level, with a few advanced type questions. Results are out within 2-3 days of the test, and if you are selected, your name, the allotted IISER would be listed. No info about cut-off marks / marks you scored/ percentile etc are shown. My advice would be to score maximum in your strength, and make no negatives. Bio section is usually simple, but if you dont know an answer, don't guess it.
hope this helped
Facilities and infrastructure are quite good and satisfactory, like Wi-Fi, which is available 24 hours a day in all the labs, classrooms & libraries, as well as on the hostel premises. The quality of food in the mess and canteen is decent and very much eatable but it depends on the taste of the individual. Medical facilities are available on campus and ambulance services are there for any emergency.
