IISER Kolkata Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The Institute has a separate hostel for boys. In total, IISER Kolkata has two hostels that can accommodate up to 400 students on the permanent campus. The hostels are equipped with all the basic facilities that make the stay of students easier on the campus.

The institute offers accommodation facilities to its students. For this, IISER Kolkata has a separate hostel for girls. The hostels have common rooms and provide scope for recreation through extracurricular activities.

IISER Kolkata is committed to helping its students by taking care of their medical needs.

To make sure that students are getting practical exposure and experience, the institute offers departmental based laboratory facilities.

Started function in 2006, the institute library acts as a documentation and information centre that caters to information and research needs of students in basic sciences.

The Institute offers sports facilities for outdoor and indoor sports such as (tennis, basketball, volleyball courts and cricket grounds or 400m track stadium/football ground.

The Institute has computing sections that provide an easy and secure network and computing to access to IISER Kolkata students. The section offers all the important (core) services such as wiki, mail, web etc. The computing section connects and manages wired and wireless LANs throughout the campus.

Students at IISER Kolkata can avail the cafeteria facilities offered by the institute throughout the year just by using their institute ID cards at affordable rates.

The IISER-K Alumni Association which was established in December 2016 is relatively young but a very vibrant and active community wishing to establish a dynamic and mutually profitable relationship with IISER-K in order to continue the unique culture which has painstakingly been built over the years.

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata offers transport facilities for easy commute. The transport facilities are offered to students and faculty members.

The National Knowledge Commission,  Government of Indian has taken a step to interconnect all the institutions of higher learning. As a result of these efforts, IISER Kolkata is connected to the national knowledge network through an optical fibre. The Institute has a virtual classroom or e classroom which can accommodate thirty participants.
