CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI), Karaikudi, is one of the eminent research institutes. The admission procedure is built around the criterion of attracting talent at a level of merit both at the state as well as at the national level, thereby ensuring a diverse and competitive student populace. Application Process

The application procedure for CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI) depends on the system of admission selected by the candidate:

If admission via TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission) is sought:

  1. Register for TNEA counseling on the official website of TNEA.
  2. Fill in the application form and pay the processing fee.
  3. Upload all relevant documents as demanded, including those of 10+2 mark sheets and certificates.
  4. Opt for CECRI and B.Tech in Chemical and Electrochemical Engineering during counseling.
  5. If given a seat, report to CECRI for verification of documents and confirmation of admission.

If admission via JEE Main is sought:

  1. Take the JEE Main conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
  2. When applications open, register on the CECRI website or the admission portal.
  3. Fill in the application form mentioning your JEE Main roll number and scores.
  4. Pay an application fee as laid down by CECRI.
  5. Upload all documents asked including the JEE Main score card, 10+2 certificate.
  6. Wait for the announcement of the merit list from CECRI.
  7. Report to the institute for verification and admission process if selected.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Tech in Chemical and Electrochemical Engineering: This is the prime program of CECRI having a total intake of 40 students per year. The admission pattern is divided into two sections.

  1. Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA): 35 seats filled through a single-window system for TNEA. This is mainly for the candidates from Tamil Nadu. The candidates should qualify in the TNEA examination and attend the counseling session.
  2. JEE Main: The remaining 5 seats are allocated based on the JEE Main score. This route is open for candidates throughout India. Students should qualify in the JEE Main examination and satisfy the cut-off criteria as specified by CECRI.

Eligibility for both admission routes includes successful completion of 10+2 education in which Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are core subjects. Selections shall be totally based on merit, taking into consideration student performance in the respective entrance examination.

 The documents required under both modes of admission generally comprise:

  • 10th and 12th standard examination mark sheets and pass certificates
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Community Certificate (if applicable)
  • Entrance exam score card (TNEA or JEE Main)
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Any other certificates or documents specified by CECRI.
