Dr. Syamala Reddy College of Nursing, Bengaluru, is a well-known nursing college offering a variety of nursing programs. The structured admission process followed by the college aims to identify qualified candidates for all its diversified nursing courses. As an affiliated college, Dr. Syamala Reddy College of Nursing is identified by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and, hence, supports its set admission guidelines based on other regulatory bodies as well as the affiliated university.

1. Application form: An interested candidate can download the application form from the college's official website or fetch the same in person from campus.".

2. Application form: Fill all such details in the application form by filling all the required fields with accuracy. Pay attention to details pertaining to personal and academic information.

3. Required documents: Collect all the documents required for the process, mainly

  • Passport-sized photographs
  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets and certificates
  • Transfer certificate from the last institution attended
  • Caste certificate, if needed
  • Any other such certificates or documents demanded by the college.

4. Submitting the application form: Once all the columns are filled up, the application form with all the documents has to be forwarded to the college's admissions office by the date mentioned.

5. Entrance test: Not many colleges require an entrance test; that again depends upon the course as well as the respective college policy. The syllabus and pattern of the test shall be intimated by the respective college.

6. Interview process: The procedure for interview for postgraduate programs can also be altered accordingly also.

7. College is supposed to prepare and put up merit list, on students' performance, both in academics as well as in the entrance test the institute itself administers and at the time the interview processes go on.

8. Verification of documents with fee deposit In case candidates are cleared for the concerned post, it is assumed that original copies of required documents be submitted along with payment of any applicable fees will complete the proceedings.

9. Orientation and Regular Classes: Students who join are given an orientation session before they are dispatched for regular classes.

Degree-wise Admission Process:

GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery): The college offers a diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery, with an intake capacity of 60 students. It is open to candidates who have passed 10+2 in science subjects.

B.Sc Nursing: This is an undergraduate programme of four years with an intake of 60 students. It requires 10+2, with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Academic performance may also be considered during admission, but an entrance exam could also be the case.

Post Basic B.Sc Nursing: It is a degree for registered nurses who want to upgrade their qualification. The intake of the college is 30 students for this course. Eligible candidates have to be from GNM, with relevant experience.

M.Sc Nursing: The courses offered by the college are postgraduate M.Sc Nursing in a variety of streams, with a total intake of 5 students in each branch.

  • M.Sc Medical Surgical Nursing
  • M.Sc Child Health Nursing
  • M.Sc Obstetric and Gynecological Nursing
  • M.Sc in mental health nursing
  • M.Sc in community health nursing

B.Sc Nursing degree is a pre-requisite for all of the above mentioned postgraduate studies. The selection criteria may comprise academic performance, experience at work, and possibly an entrance examination or interview.
