Kongunadu College of Engineering and Technology, Tiruchirappalli Admission Process

Kongunadu College of Engineering and Technology (KNCET) is located in Tiruchirappalli and has been established as an autonomous institute offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering. It has approved the admission procedure as per the sanctioned admission process by the Tamil Nadu State Government in respect of engineering admission. KNCET is also approved by the AICTE and accredited by NAAC, whose seals speak volumes in quality education by aspiring engineers. The undergraduate admissions of KNCET are primarily based on the rank that students obtain during the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counseling process. Student rankings are derived from the marks scored in their qualifying exam, which is a 10+2, comprising Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as core subjects. Generally, the actual admission processes take place soon after the declaration of 12th results, usually around May or June, according to the commencement of the academic year in August or September.

Postgraduate admissions in KNCET for ME programs are mostly fulfilled based upon CEETA-PG admission, whereas certain other courses also consider TANCET scores for student selection. The TANCET exam is usually conducted at the beginning half of the year, followed by a very quick announcement of results. Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate Degrees: A candidate should have completed 10+2 or an equivalent examination wherein Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are core subjects for undergraduate courses; and for postgraduate courses, the candidate must hold a recognized bachelor's degree in engineering or technology from a university recognized.

Application Process

The application process for Kongunadu College of Engineering and Technology is based on program level:

For B.Tech/BE programs:

  1. Qualify for the 10+2 examination with the required subjects and minimum marks.
  2. Register for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling.
  3. Fill in the application form of the TNEA along with necessary fees.
  4. Upload documents as required by TNEA.
  5. Take part in the TNEA counselling rounds and select KNCET and courses of preference.
  6. Report to KNCET for document verification and confirmation of admission by seat allotment.

For M.Tech/ME programs:

  1. Hold an examination of CEETA-PG or TANCET.
  2. Register for the appropriate counselling CEETA-PG or TANCET.
  3. Fill in the application for ME programs at KNCET.
  4. Attend the counselling as per the schedule released by the conducting authority.
  5. If selected, report to KNCET for document verification and admission procedures.

Degree Wise Admission Process

B.Tech/BE: KNCET offers nine undergraduate engineering programs including popular programs such as Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Admission is through TNEA counselling for all courses. For all B.Tech/BE courses combined, the college has an overall intake of 780 seats; Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering have the highest number of seats with 120 each.

M.Tech/ME: The college offers ME Applied Electronics, ME Computer Science, and Engineering in its list of postgraduate programs. Admission into these programs is primarily based on CEETA-PG and TANCET score rankings followed by counselling. Each ME program has an intake of 6 seats.

Documents generally required during admissions include:

  • Mark sheets and certificates of the 10th and 12th standards
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Community Certificate, if applicable
  • Nativity Certificate, if necessary
  • Entrance exam score card for PG admission
  • Degree certificate and mark sheets for PG admission
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Any other particulars as instructed by the institute or counselling authority,

Sorry to say but Engineering can be done part-time.

The reason is simply that a Bachelor of Technology is a professional degree that needs full-time inducement to know the real meaning of whatever branch you are going to opt for.

See, Bachelor of Technology develops a mindset to work under references or pressure. In general, B.Tech grads needs to do internships and needs to attend workshops that outshine their qualities and abilities.

There is no problem that if you go for part-time courses but Bachelor of Technology can not be done part-time. It needs full concentration to develop the required skills in the candidate.
