Hi,
Infrastructure
HIT campus is around 35 acres but along with the law, polytechnic and marine engineering campuses the area comes out to be 85–90 acres. The infrastructure support is great. There are separate hostels for students of a particular year. The hostels are humungous. Each hostel has a volleyball court and a badminton court inside the hostel itself. Rooms are spacious and are allotted on a triple sharing basis. There are common toilets which are cleaned everyday. On campus you will have a football field, a basketball court, a gym and a common building which has the tt tables and carrom boards. The classrooms though non air conditioned are extremely roomy. Haldia is a very windy place so ACs are not required. There are mess kitchens in every hostel which serve 4 meals a day. The food there is decent and cheap. 3 canteens, 1 restaurant, 1 barber shop 2 Xerox centers and 2 general stores have been provided on campus for the convenience of the students. Food is cheap in Haldia. Cost of living is low. At around 5000 per month you will lead a lavish lifestyle( I mean king-size) for the next 4 years.
2. Academics
Now enough about infrastructure. Academics is taken very seriously in HIT. Classes are conducted on time and as scheduled. They are rarely cancelled. Professors will help you if you really want their help. People here are very motivated. Right from the 3rd year, students start preparing for GATE,CAT,etc. The institute has recently started preparing students for these competitive tests. Academics is where HIT outshines every other college in it's league. Students here generally study in groups(though right before the exams) and this creates discussion allowing better understanding of the concepts. Regular assignments and internal tests help students keep in touch with the academics. HIT has the best laboratories and can beat any college under WBUT in that aspect. The labs are well equipped and has adequate machinery for every student. Lab assistants are very helpful and treat the students as friends (you will need this during practical exams, trust me).
3. Placements
Placements, the thing you waited to read about. Placements were once the crown jewel of this institute but in recent times it has taken a hit(no pun intended). It is mainly due to the job scarcity in the market itself. Core jobs are low in number and talented people, high. If you are serious about your placements then there is a job in the IT sector or a sales profile job for you. As for core jobs they need both luck and hard work to crack. This is the situation in every private college in the state. The major IT recruiters that visit the campus are Infosys, TCS, Wipro, IBM and Tech Mahindra.

I think SFIT will be better, the exposure one gets in mumbai universities is not comparable. Moreover it is a good branch so go for it :p
Hey Dhara,
RCC institute of Information Technology is ranked at 15 th place in West Bengal
More information about college,
This college is pathetic in terms of everything. Everybody from this college is suffering from ostrich syndrome. You can judge a college by three factors at most. One is the placement second is the college life and third is the quality or infrastructure of education.
Placement is not so good, the TPO is pathetic, does not bring any core companies, only depends on the IT companies, in our time there were others colleges which gave almost 80% placements, coming to RCC, it was near to 50%. TCS came and took 130 students where as in netaji subhas or meghnad saha it took over 250 students, saroj mohan Institute of technology even had 120 students in TCS that year. It was a tight slap. Now student placed in tech m was 27 and student placed in Igate was 60. So overall 210 to 220 student got placed in our year and the total student was above 400. So even in that boom phase they had only managed to place 50%.
College life is somewhat good, i will not complain about college life, especially there is a lawn, where students usually tastes the freedom. Overall it was good but lots and lots of irritating pricks over there, but I guess this is the same story for every college.
I can not comment about the other facuties, I am from electrical so this Department is not a big time. Pathetic teachers, full of politics. They does not give a fuck about our future. Some of the teachers are helpful. I would like to take the name of Mr. Nijamuddin Molla. If you intent to join this college and this Department, then go directly to him, make a rapport with him, he will help you out. Though by looking him you could say he is the most dangerous of all, but trust me on this he will never harm you. Apart from him and one professor, everyone is just sick people having no other career choice, and bullies other students. Infrastructure is overall good.
All the best!
HI RITAM,
As per your respective ranks in the general and SC category i.e 63k and 5k it looks impossible for you to make into the RCC college of engineering in kolkata after seeing the trends in the previous years.
For detailed previous year's scenario please visit -https://cutoffs.aglasem.com/1036
BEST OF LUCK BROTHER!!!!
I think KIIT would be a better choice if you are getting a seat in it. CSE is wel reputed for KIIT as far as i know you shoud go for KIIT.
All the Best!!
The infrastructure are well and good. The benches are of wooden and some benches are of metals now. There are two playgrounds in the campus and also there is a pond inside the campus. The auditorium is awesome.
Our college infrastructure is quiet good..we have a big auditorium room where many events were organized.. we have more than 15 labs and more than 50 classrooms ..each floor contain min 10 classrooms. We have one big library and small 3 libraries..
My overall experience in this college is very well. Education system, Campus, Infrastructure all are really very good. There are also many sports , scope of extracurricular activities in this college.
