Ideally you should have been eligible or atleast received a Call from 3 of the Top IIMs, BLACKI. Being from Non Engineering Background, and secondly after Securing 99.94 Percentile in CAT, its highly unusual. However, it does happen, and you may have lost points for your average Academic Record as well as Points due to No Work Experience.

However, Do keep hope, as All IIMs have yet not released their Call Lists. Secondly, their are many Excellent Management Institutes other than IIMs like Management Schools of Top IITs like VGSOM, SJSOM, DMS IIT Delhi as well as Top Management Institutes like FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, IMT Ghaziabad, SPJIMR, NITIE and JBIMS Mumbai, and you must participate in the respective application processes.

Although you have an average academic record in 10/12, assuming you are from General Category I still believe you can get a call from either of IIM A B C , with a strong score in CAT (99.7+) , an excellent academic record in Graduation, followed by a great GD/PI and WAT.

The overall percentile required for the ST category in the colleges you listed are as follows:

IIM A - 60 percentile

IIM B - 65 percentile

IIM C - 65 percentile

IIM K - 55 percentile

IIM L - 65 percentile

IIM I - 50 percentile

Looking at the cutoffs you can safely expect calls from these colleges. However, I would request you to go to the respective websites and see the percentage of CAT marks and other criteria since it is different for every college.

The background does not make a difference and in fact, it is better if a person is from a diverse background. Colleges like to boast of the mix of students from various profiles and you would fit in with that really well. Most colleges end up having mostly engineering students as applicants. So, MBA colleges are more than open to candidates from any other background.

Just make sure that you are well versed with the subjects you have studied in your undergraduation. They might be interested in asking you since your background is unique and they will be inquisitive about that.

I suggest you start preparing for your interviews and focus all your energy on acing the best college you can get!

All the best!

Hello Aspirant,

If you want to get IIM A for PGP program in FABM course then you should have at least 99 percentile in CAT and also have decent academic record because the candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their CAT scores (70 % weightage) and Application Rating Score (30 % weightage) for the AWT and PI. Application Rating Score (ARS) combines a candidate’s 10th, 12th and graduation marks and averages them accordingly. Applicants with prior background in the Food/Agriculture industry are given preference during AWT and PI as the program is industry-specific.

Hi Dear,

As per the information provided by you, your academics are decent and if you score good in CAT then you have chances of converting IIM A, B, or C. But I'll recommend you to score good in your graduation as you do not having any work experience certificate. Also, try to involve yourself in extra curricular activities or enroll in short term courses in college which will improve your profile. To get a call from IIM A,B,C and to be on safer side you should at least score 98+ percentile in CAT.

Good Luck

Hello Aspirant,

Hello Aspirant,

I am unable to clearly understand 8/7/8 but I am assuming , those are your 10th,12th and graduation percentages ,which are 80%,70% and 80% respectively. If yes, then , to qualify for an interview call from IIM Ahmedabad, you should have at least 90% in 10th and more than 80-85% in 12th and around 80-90% in graduation. However this is in addition to you 98-99+ CAT percentile. Therefore with these scores , a call from IIM A has less scope. So if you are in 12th aim and score a minimum of 80% ,else if you at graduation level, then score more than 90. In case you are done with schooling and graduation, then nothing much is left to do, prepare really well and score exceptionally well in CAT and hope for the best to happen.
