Hello Aspirant!
There are various reasons which make IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bombay better than IIM Calcutta. One of the massive advantages IIM-A , IIM-B had was its proximity to Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Bangalore, all three economic powerhouses. Whereas IIM-C, although older and located in Kolkata, had to deal with the distance problem.
There was an alumni reunion in IIM-A just before Christmas, when the batch of ’92 descended upon campus. Out of the 180 in the batch, about 150 turned up for the reunion. Which not happens with full ledge in IIM-C. But all IIM's are great to go and they lead many students to make better future for our nation.
Hello
Some of the alumni of IIM Calcutta are :
Rohit Chadda (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rohit_Chadda) , CEO for the digital business at Zee group
Sunil Alagh (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunil_Alagh) , former MD and CEO of Britannia Industries (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britannia_Industries)
Ajit Balakrishnan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajit_Balakrishnan) , founder and chief executive officer (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chief_executive_officer) of Rediff.com (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rediff.com)

Thanks!!
Hi Chandni,
See, the best choice is what you can make on your own. Rather than looking for alternatives, it is better to get your preferences over anything else. Both Bangalore and Calcutta are best in terms of everything. Be it placements or academics r anything else, you can opt anyone from them.
But as per my opinion, I would go with Bangalore because there are several advantages as well.
You will enjoy your life in IIM Bangalore and for sure you will be free from politics as well. Although, bangalore will be quite expensive as compared to calcutta due to high standards of living. So, the choice is yours.
I hope this information helps you.

Hii
IIM-C was established in November 1961, in collaboration with the MIT Sloan School of Management, the government of West Bengal, the Ford Foundation and Indian industry. During its initial years, several prominent faculty formed part of its nucleus, including Paul Samuelson, Jagdish Sheth and J. K. Sengupta.
IIM-A was also established in 1961 by the Government of India in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat and Indian Industry. Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, a noted scientist and industrialist and other Ahmedabad based industrialists such as Kasturbhai Lalbhai played a major role in the creation of the Institute.
Campus
The highligh of the 100 acre IIM-A campus is the the baked brick style buildings designed by the famous architect Louis Kahn. The highlight of IIM-C's 135 acre campus are the 7 lakes and a mini replica of the Howrah bridge.

Hi Richie,
First and foremost, for IIMs (A/B/C) you need to score a very good percentile in CAT. Assuming you're a GEM (General category, Engineer and a Male), and have decent academic scores (i.e. 85% and above in your 10th and 12th and 80% and above in your graduation) your percentile should be no less than 99.4 - 99.5.
Now, coming to specific B-Schools. IIM C gives less importance to your past academics and more to CAT and further processes (WAT, PI). So even if you have a poor score in 10th / 12th / graduation (obviously more than 70%), you still stand a chance by acing your CAT paper.
IIM B on the other hand gives a lot of weightage to your past academics. Therefore if you're not someone with 90% and above in both 10th and 12th, you might face serious competitions and if you have a poor score then you might want to drop the dream of IIM B.
But you can still look for IIM A, as it is more balanced than IIM B and doesn't necessarily put that much weight on your past academics.
Hope this helps.
Hey Niha,
Yes you can absolutely get admission in IIM C after your Maters provided you clear your CAT exam with flying colors, that is to say, you having done your Masters won't give you any additional privilege.
Coming to your next question, No, there is no age limit to pursue the PGDM program from IIM C rather any IIMs as of now.
Hope this helps.
IIM Calcutta, provide facilities for a digital library and good internet connectivity with a good internet speed. The food provided is decent for the students. Provided a good infrastructure and course is good overall, equipped with industry-demand course are present in the curriculum.
Excellent infrastructure for the college is provided to the students. Library is one of the best when compared to other colleges. Adequate outdoor sessions and lab work. Quality of food can improve. Wi-Fi can be rated average and needs to be improvement. The Wi-Fi speed is also fluctuates some times.
According to me college has very good infrastructure is quite very good. Hostels are far better than the other colleges. There is a well-maintained library and a separate reading hall for students. Wi-Fi connection is good but some of the you have to use your own mobile data. Labs are well maintained.
