IISER Bhopal Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research is a residential institution and requires that all students admitted to various courses at IISER Bhopal must reside on the campus. Presently, the institute has four boys hostels in different hostel buildings. Students are also offered mess facilities.

As IISER Bhopal is a residential institution, it requires all the students should reside on the campus. For this, the institution has separate hostels for girls. Currently, there are three hostels for girls students.

The Institute has a medical centre that offers all types of medical facilities to its students and faculty members. In case of an emergency, the health centre has an automated external defibrillator. Doctors and nurses are available to handle any medical emergency. One ambulance is 24/7 present for emergency referral cases.

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal has a central library with a vast collection of books, reference books, periodicals and subscribes to e-journals. IISER Bhopal library has books on computer science, history of science, stories, general studies, etc. All the operations that take place in the library are managed by the KOHO Library Management software. Students can have access to the library collection through Web-OPAC.

The institute offers sports facilities for outdoor and indoor sports such as (tennis, basketball, volleyball courts and cricket grounds or 400m track stadium/football ground.

Internet access is provided to the entire campus and has seamless network connectivity. There are two InfiniBand Linux clusters in which Tier-2 data Centre host 132 compute nodes of the Infiniband cluster with login and management nodes Also, a central instrumentation facility is provided to the students which provide state of the art instruments that are required for research.

As students are living away from their homes, they must be missing their homemade fold items. To cater to such food requirements of the students, the institute has a cafeteria that offers delicious and healthy food items.

Several events take place throughout the year in IISER Bhopal. All such events are organised in the institute auditorium that can accommodate a good number of people.

The institute offers transport facilities to its students and faculty members.

The college has a good networking for the alumni association.

The institute has a swimming pool which is cleaned by the cleaning staff for the use of the students.

The institute has provided a guest house facility to students’ family members and visiting faculty. To avail this facility, prior booking is needed.

Departmental based laboratory facilities are offered to students at IISER Bhopal. All the laboratories are well equipped and offer practical experience and exposure to the students.

Each classroom in IISER Bhopal provides the best environment for learning and teaching. The institute has a virtual classroom as well established to provide an advanced learning environment with a seating capacity of 94. It has high-speed internet connectivity, the latest audio and visual technology to stimulate advanced learning and teaching.

Campus have ramps and lifts in its 80% of the building for the physical challenged students.
