See in general, if one have 50% marks in the TIFR GS examination, then its quite confirmed that the student will get a call for the interview. Now every year, the difficulty of the paper change for different subjects and as a result, the cutoff changes. So nothing for sure can't be provided, although you have moderate chances to get the interview call.

Hello dear aspirant
The fees is quite feasible and affordable to pay for all the students. For hostel accommodation, the fees is around 15,000 rupees yearly which is not included in the program/tution fees.
The institute offers a very good hostel facilities to its students. The rooms of the hostel are well furnished with single bed, double bed, triple bed. Each room is attached with bathroom and toilet. There have free Wi-Fi facility, DTH Facility, recreational centres where TV and Newspaper, Magazine are available. Mess facility is very good in the hostel. They provide mouth watering dishes to the students. On special occasions they prepare special food for the students. The mess provides both vegetarian and non vegetarian foods. Overall the infrastructure and the facilities provided by the hostel is very good.
Hope I've cleared all your queries!!
All the best for your future career
Hey,
Tata Institute conducts it's own exam under the name TIFR which is responsible for admission into various courses offered by the college. The minimum eligibility criteria to take admission into astrophysics is that you need to have completed your graduation from science related stream.
You need to apply for the TIFR exams once the forms will be out. After clearing the cut off you will be called for the interview and if you will clear the interview you will be allotted admission in the respective college.
Hope that helps.
Thank you.
You must compare prestigious Institutes like TIFR or IISc Bangalore, with likes of cheap Engineering Colleges around India, arranging for placements after Graduation. Students of TIFR are more into research and nearly 80% of the Batch moves to Higher Research Institutions abroad for a Post Doc after PhD, followed by a successful career in research. Even of the remaining 20%, many take up Research/Academic Positions in India with IITs, CSIR, DRDO as well as IISc Bangalore and many Top Drug/Chemical/Pharma Research Divisions. TIFR is a prestigious Institute, and you shouldnt really dream of getting cheap 8-12 LPA Placements after PhD, instead you should dream of getting indulged in research, make use of the opportunities and research and training facilities available at TIFR.
