Raja Bazar Science College in Kolkata is one of the most eminent constituent colleges of the University of Calcutta. The college offers several undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in science and engineering since its inception with admission criteria for merit-based admissions processes that are intended to select the best and most deserving through various examinations at the national and state levels. Admission processes for Raja Bazar Science College, generally, start in May-June and proceed for the academic session starting in August-September. The institute invites applications for each program through a separate entrance examination. Admission to most undergraduate engineering courses depends on WBJEE rank, while a few courses retain some consideration to scores in JEE Main. 

Admission to postgraduate courses and especially M.Tech programs is conducted on the basis of a valid Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score. The minimum qualification criteria for its undergraduate programs would be to have passed the 10+2 examination from any recognized board or council, with consideration of Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as compulsory subjects.  The college accepts GATE, JEE Main and WBJEE. Different schedules and application processes are followed by the different entrances. For example, it is expected that the admit card for GATE 2025 will be available between January 3 and February 16, 2025. The JEE Main 2025 city intimation slip is scheduled to be announced on January 3, 2025. WBJEE 2025 is set to be conducted on April 27, 2025.

B.Tech programs:

B.Tech: Admission to B.Tech programs primarily ranks WBJEE-based admission. Some important B.Tech courses offered by the college are Chemical Engineering (40 seats), Radio Physics and Electronics (42 seats), Electronics and Communication Engineering (22 seats), IT (20 seats), Electrical Engineering (20 seats), Ceramic Engineering (10 seats), Oil Technology (10 seats), Petrochemicals and Petroleum Refinery Engineering (10 seats), and Pharmaceuticals and Fine Chemical Technology (10 seats).

M.Tech: The college offers quite a few M.Tech programs and admits students mainly on the basis of GATE scores. Some of them are Chemical Engineering (25 seats), Radio Physics and Electronics (42 seats), Electrical Engineering (20 seats), Polymer Science and Technology (18 seats), and VLSI Design (19 seats). Graduates of the B.Tech program at the University of Calcutta may not be required to submit GATE scores for certain specific courses.

M.Sc: Raja Bazar Science College offers various M.Sc programs. Generally, the admissions are based on merit or entrance tests conducted by the university. Such as Applied Mathematics (48 seats), Chemistry (74 seats), Electronics Science (25 seats), Physiology (39 seats), and in Biophysics and Molecular Biology (22 seats).

Ph.D.: The college holds Ph.D. programs in a variety of disciplines. Admissions are typically held based on a Research Eligibility Test (RET) followed by an interview based on UGC criteria.
