SCM Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kolkata was established in the year 1948. With a history of over seven decades, this is one of the older Institutions in town. This co-ed affiliated college, located in the busy Kolkata, has been producing technical talent for generations. The campus is approved by AICTE and offers quality education on its compact 0-acre campus. Though the full name of the institute may be a mouthful, in it is ingrained, truly speaking, that commitment to excellence in the field of engineering and technology education which for years has been upheld by this institution.

The institutes take pride in providing all basic facilities necessary for aiding their learning processes. There are libraries which act as knowledge centers, allowing students to get deep into the subjects with the variety of resources they contain. Appreciating the power of practical learning, the SCM Institute has set up adequately furnished, department-based laboratories to put theoretical concepts into practice and aim for perfection. At present, the Institute offers two full-time diploma courses, each of three years duration. Designed to provide students with industry-relevant skills and knowledge, these include the Diploma in Computer Science and Technology and the Diploma in Automobile Engineering; each having an enrollment of 20 students to provide a focused and personalized learning environment. This limited enrolled makes sure that each student gets individual attention from the faculty members, putting them into a quite favorable atmosphere for them towards academic growth and skill development.
