Here's how you might do that. Go download NLTK (Natural Language Toolkit). Then build some software that does something cool.

Here are some ideas:

Run a bunch of different POS taggers on some text and characterize the differences. Which is better for what domain? Do they make similar mistakes?
Build a sentiment analysis system and run it on a bunch of reviews, or tweets about something. See what mistakes it's making and figure out how to make it better. What features should you use that can help it do better? Find out if people liked the Interview, or whatever the movie du jour is!

Build a system for some other language. Text segmentation in Chinese is fun and hard, but really pick any problem and apply it to another language, and you'll learn a huge amount about your assumptions about what works and what doesn't work.
None of these things will work well on your first try -- a key lesson in NLP, actually -- so the main thing you should focus on, once you get a baseline system working, is to figure out how to make your system better. That's 90+% of the effort in NLP.

Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai is a Private Deemed to be University which have quite a decent placement record. So yeah! going for  the college is a good choice. But if you want to have a better packaged job then I would suggest you to go for VIT because from infrastructure to placements, its way better than Bharath (if you have no issues). If you want to study in Bharath, then also you have very good scope ahead but the peer and public relation of VIT is better which leads to high package jobs.

Bharath university (BIHER) provides good infrastructure facilities to students such as smart classrooms, internet facilities, sports, library etc. teh college provides full-day classes from 9 to 5. It might also depend upon the schedule of classes. Also, the students are allowed to go for outings, there iss no such restrictions on students.

Overall teaching is excellent. They have experienced teachers and their method  of teaching is really helpful.

2. Placement/Internships

Placements in Bharath University are very good I, Last year placement percentage was 93%

There are lots of internship programs available but its not compulsory to do an internship. Also many alumni students are placed in good companies with average package of 3-4 lacs.

3. Infrastructure and other facilities

They have 3 boys  and 2 girls hostels.

There are plenty of pain guest houses available around  college.

Food from mess is fine compared to local restaurant food.
