Basantika Institute of Engineering and Technology, Birbhum Admission Process

Basantika Institute of Engineering and Technology (BIET), Birbhum-a premiere institution to offer various diploma programs in engineering courses. The admission process is inclusive merit-based, designed so that deserving candidates can have access to quality technical education, whereas it follows admission procedure setup by All India Council for Technical Education with regulatory bodies in place. Currently, the admission cycle usually starts at the release of the results of the secondary examination by WBBSE and other similar boards.

The admission criteria to the diploma course of BIET are simple but sufficient to afford a bare minimum level of aptitude in academic performance. The aspirants should be Indian citizens and must have completed or appeared in secondary examination, held by WBBSE or an equivalent board. To secure admission in the institute, the applicants require securing a minimum of 35% marks in aggregate of all subjects except additional. Candidates also require Physics/Science and Mathematics combined above 45%.

Application Process

The application procedure for Basantika Institute of Engineering and Technology, Birbhum is quite simple and open to every eligible person. Here goes a step by step method of application:

1. Notification: There will be an announcement on the portal of the institute as well as in the newspapers with regard to the initiation of the admission procedure. Prospective students would be advised to check the website (https://bietp.com/) frequently.

2. Application Form: The application form can be downloaded from the concerned portal or picked up from the institute itself. The application form is to be filled out properly in black or blue ink.

3. Submission of Documents: Along with the completed application form, candidates are required to submit the following documents:

  • Attested copies of mark sheets of the secondary examination (10th standard)
  • Proof of date of birth (usually the 10th standard certificate)
  • Character certificate from the last attended school
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Recent passport-sized photographs

4. Submission of the Application: The application form along with all the necessary documents has to be submitted to the admission office of the institute before the last date. Applications submitted after the last date will not be entertained.

5. Merit List: The merit list for admission will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the secondary examination, giving special importance to the scores in Physical Science/Science and Mathematics.

6. Counseling and Seat Offering: Those students falling in the merit list will be invited for counseling in order to select his or her course based on merit rank and seat availability.

7. Fee Deposit: Students will need to pay the prescribed admission fees within the stipulated time to reserve seats.

8. Verification of Documents: Full verification regarding the submitted documents will be carried out before final admission by the institute. Any anomaly may result in nullification of admission.

9. Orientation: Students admitted to the institute are required to attend an orientation program that introduces them to the institution's facilities, faculty, and academic requirements.

Degree wise Admission Process

Undergraduate Courses: There are six diploma programs available in Basantika Institute of Engineering and Technology, and each of them lasts for 3 years. Admission to all diploma programs is done in the same manner. The overall intake approved by the institute is 300 students under all such programs. Following is the list of courses along with intake for each:

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering: Of the three diploma programs, this is the largest, with an intake of 90 students.

  1. Civil Engineering Diploma: This program has a total strength of 60 students at the institute, thus catering to the growing needs of the construction and infrastructure sectors.
  2. Electrical Engineering Diploma: This is the backed-up program with an intake of 60 students and is designed for students aspiring careers in the electrical industry.
  3. Diploma in Computer Science and Technology: This program has an intake of 30 students and focuses on the ever-changing field of computer science.
  4. Diploma in Chemical Engineering: BIET offers 30 seats for this specialized course, which caters to the needs of the chemical industry.
  5. Diploma in Technician Electronic Radio: This unique program has an approved intake of 30 students, catering to the electronics and communication sector.

The eligibility criteria mentioned earlier apply to all these diploma programs. Selection of candidates will depend on the basis of their performance in the qualifying examination with regard to the available seats in the selected program by the candidates.
