The state of facilities is frankly appalling. A library that's practically non-existent offers little to no resources for students. What few books they have are outdated and the space itself is hardly conducive to study. Forget about modern research; the collection is woefully inadequate. Adding insult to injury, the computer labs are non-functional. The computers are either broken, outdated, or lack internet access, rendering the entire lab useless. Students are left without the essential tools they need to succeed in today's digital world. This isn't just an inconvenience; it's a major hindrance to their education. How can students be expected to learn and thrive in an environment so severely lacking in basic resources? It's a disservice to the students and a clear indication of a systemic failure to invest in their future. This situation needs urgent attention and a significant overhaul. Anything less is unacceptable.
The faculty situation is a mixed bag, to put it mildly. While a handful of truly exceptional teachers exist, offering engaging and enriching classes that you wouldn't want to miss, they are unfortunately the exception rather than the rule. The vast majority of the teaching staff, sadly, leaves much to be desired. Many classes are dull, uninspired, and frankly, a waste of time. Students often find themselves actively seeking ways to avoid these classes, resorting to skipping lectures and relying on self-study or external resources. This disparity in teaching quality creates a frustrating and inconsistent learning experience. While the few excellent teachers provide a glimmer of hope, the overall lack of consistently high-quality instruction undermines the entire educational process. It's a disservice to the students who deserve a uniformly excellent education, not just a few scattered bright spots amidst a sea of mediocrity. This unevenness in faculty quality needs to be addressed urgently to ensure all students have access to the quality teaching they deserve.
While the overall academic experience may leave something to be desired, one bright spot shines through: the placement record. The college boasts a commendable placement rate, with a significant number of students securing job offers. A large contributor to this success is the strong showing in off-campus placements. Many students actively pursue and successfully land positions with reputable companies through their own efforts and networking. This proactive approach, coupled with the college's reputation, seems to be paying off. The career services, while perhaps not solely responsible for the success, likely play a role in facilitating these off-campus opportunities by providing resources and guidance. The high placement rate, particularly the success in off-campus recruitment, offers a tangible reward for students' hard work and perseverance. It's a testament to their individual initiative and the college's overall standing in the job market. This strong placement record serves as a significant draw for prospective students and a source of pride for the institution. While other areas may need improvement, the placement success story is definitely a point of strength.
It's a state government college so its quite cheap
It has to be the best part of the college apart from placements, on a clear day you can see Mt Kanchenjungha. Behind the hostels is a river and tea garden so you will have the best memories out there
in JALPAIGURI government engineering there are many kinds of facilities. For the all departments there are laboratories but those are not workable.IN the classroom there are projectors.in the college there are also a library for the students.there are many sports grounds and sports court for the student. for the each year's students there are separate hostels and there are also a ladies hostel for all girls students.in the hostel there are wifi facilities.the surroundings of hostel are not clean.
currently i am studying computer science and engineering because for the job offer for this stream is good . teaching quality is good but int the cse department teachers give us preasure for aassignment and 2 times internal for a semester and also projects.
in our college the placements are very good overall but this year for cs and IT students the placements are very bad.last year 90% students are placed.the highest salary package is 62 lakhs. the average salary was 6 lakhs per annuam.
per year you have to pay 18000 rupees to our college for course fees but for hostel fees you have to pay 32000 per year.for my point of view the college is very high for government college.any others government college's fees is not as high also the hostel fees is very high.for a middle class student is not possible to pay huge amount to a government college
campus life is very good.there are many kinds of cultural event held in our college.there are also many sports events held.students teachers are very supportive.the location of the college near railway station about 10 minutes in toto.yes it is a safe place.there are very big government hospital out side of our college .
This college use to have one of the best facilities & infrastructure 10 years back but nowadays the scenario is quite different. The college is lacking in required equipments for study purposes. There is no maintenance & lack of interest to develop new facilities for students.
Academics of this college is good but the no of professors are really less & as a govt college, it didn't provide other academic associates as well which creates extra burden for the professors. The College has good curriculum but the lack of sufficient no of faculty & less enthusiastic management are the reason behind of such average academics.
Placement of this college is also not that good. Most of companies are invited by the students & college don't even provide the minimum required support. The process is not well-defined & there is an urgent need to improve & streamline this process as soon as possible.
The fees is very less as it is a govt college.
Our college has a good infrastructure there is an administrative building and there is a central library. There are 5 hostels, and the hostel's food quality is horrible but the hostels have good connectivity water, electricity, and the Internet.
I love coding thats why I choice Information Technology deperment. The course cirriculam is very irrevent if any one just follows this he/she will dont get a job. Students should put on effort by own for his/her development.
The only good thing in our college is the placements. The highest package is 44 LPA provided by UBER and the average package is 9.5 LPA. The 2022 batch recorded 100% placements. Most students are placed in Amazon, Cognizant, Erection, etc.
The total fee for in a year is 60000. The tuition fee is 28000 and the hostel's fees are 32000. My hardon money is mostly weast because another department needs 50% to 60% less amount of money than our department needs.
There is a good infrastructure in our college, and full internet is available on the campus. There are lots of Laboratories in the college. Some of the classes are digital classrooms with projectors installed. There is a central library where students get mostly academic books but students are not allowed to study in the library. Hostel conditions are good in terms of electricity, water, and internet connectivity. But the space living space is not clean and mess food is not good and unhygienic.
I am currently studying Information Technology because I love computers and coding. Mostly the faculty members are well-qualified and a unique teaching skills. The curriculum is not updated not adapted to the recent technologies and teaches the old scrap technologies. This does not make students industry ready. Students should put effort into their skill development.
The most favorite thing in my college is placements. There is a record 100% placement in the Information Technology department in the 2022 batch. Cognizant is the mass requitor and Uber provides the highest placement 43 LPA and the average package offered by the companies is 12 LPA. Students got into MNCs like Amazon, Microsoft, Uber, Capgemini, L&T, Morgan Stanly, etc.
There is a total of 60000 costs per year that need to study and hostels, 28000 for tuition fees and 32000 for hostel fees. I think the tuition fees are too expansive compared to other departments. So, I think my money is not the value of worth it.
The college campus is very beautiful and students enjoy a very good college life. Students enjoy the annual fest JECLET and tech fest Sristi. There are lots of clubs like sports, drama, music, dance, Coding, Space research club, robotics club, etc. The teachers are very helpful. The college location is beside the National Highway, and there is a Hospital 500m near the college.
College life is an important part of our life. We should choose our college very carefully. Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College provides you with a good exposer to college life.
Seperated hostels are there for each year.Free wifi is also available in our college and has a big library.Labs are good and well maintained.Canteen is also good.Badminton,cricket,gym,etc.... are available in our college. It also has a super speciality hospital beside it for emergencies.
The faculty in this college is great when it comes to Mechanical Engineering,Civil Engineering,Electrical Engineering,Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology. The proffessors help a lot throughout the course and later on.
The companies where the students get placed are TCS,CTS,Infosys,Fusion Charts,Capgemini,Kotak Mahindra Bank,Capgemini,Tech Mahindra,IBM,etc..... through on-campus.through off-campus students got placed in google,microsoft,amazon,hotstar,media.net,etc,.......the highest offer was 33 lakh till now through off-campus.
As it's a government college, tution fees are very low as expected. But if you take hostel, you have to pay extra fees like 13k or 14k or you can also take mess. It's completely your choice.
You will absolutely love college life here.JECLAT and Sristi are the biggest fests here and the seniors are very helpful and knowledgeable. Its surroundings are absolutely superb.
Our college has a good infrastructure. It has a vast area and is clean and tidy. The laboratories are a little old fashioned. We have libraries, gymnasium, auditorium, football grounds and a beautiful scenic beauty.
The quality of teaching is very dedicated. Research works and internships are undertaken by almost all the students. Teachers and staff are very supportive. The curriculum is updated regularly with reference to MAKAUT syllabus.
There is almost 70-80% placement both on campus and off campus. Average package is around 3.5-4 LPA. There is a alot of scope in the non core branches. The highest package has crossed 30 LPA. The placement drive is conducted by the training and placement cell of JGEC
It includes library, gymnasium, auditorium, Boys' and girls' hostel, Wifi facilities, a variety of Mechanical Workshops, Laboratories, football playground and renowned college administrative building with departments and their classrooms.
The quality of teaching is good one since the core faculty is one of the most experienced one and a lot of research work is carried out by teachers as well as students of college in different streams.
Placement in the non core sector is one of the boostup. The highest packages crossed 30 lakh year. Average is between 3.5 to 4 lakhs. Core sector students are mainly involved in competitive exams like Gate, GRE , CAT , etc.
Yes, infrastructure of this college is good. The classrooms and laboratories are well furnished. As a engineering college it provide us all essential facilities. The central library of our college consists of lots of books as it is one of the oldest engineering college of the country. we have total 3 sports ground and 5 hostels in our campus. The hostel food is good and in the hostel we get wi-fi and library facility. But the campus is not well maintained and is not cleaned regularly.
currently i am studying electrical engineering and i am in the first year . The quality of teachers is very good and the way they deliver the lessons is very enjoyable . They teach us in such a way that everything becomes very interesting to us . They are also very helpful and clear all our doubts . The course is very much updated . professors not only gives us theoretical knowledge but helps us to gain knowledge through practical experiment. If I study properly my future will be bright.
placement in our college is average. This year almost 70% students get placed with an average package 3.8 lpa . one of them is placed in MEDIA.NET with an package of 30 lpa. But in 2019 the placement scenario was not good at all. so placement varies from year to year . some no of companies visit our campus every year but they offer 3 to 3.5 lpa.
I am in electrical engineering department and my 4 years course fee is just 35000 . For all the core branches the course fee is minimum . But in case of Informational technology it is almost 1.10 lakhs for 4 years . But according to me it is very much worthy because if i go to pursue the same degree to a private engineering college it will take huge amount of money.
campus life is very good in our college. seniors are very helpful to us . There is no ragging in our college . There is total 18 clubs like coder's club , rotract club, dance club , drama club , photography club etc . our college also has an initiative named JOTI. This is mainly a free night study center where students from nearby slum come for studying.our college also has SRISTI(technical fest) and JECLET(cultural fest). college staffs, professors and alumnus are also very helpful.
Our college has the necessary infrastructure to improve any student as an engineer. Laboratories are well equipped as very much clean for use and foods are also hygienic of our two canteens and 4 hostel canteens also. Our hostel rooms has free broadband connections for each hostilities . Our college also provide us many smart classrooms.
Here I am studying Electronics and Communication Engineering and I am a student of the first year. Here we have many qualified teachers with more than 20 years of teaching experience, almost 80% of them are qualified from many IITs. Teaching faculties are very much helpful and polite toward students. Curriculums are vary much updated according to the syllabus of MAKAUT which makes us job-ready.
Although it is an autonomous Government college our placements rate is so much lower than any other government college but from few years 70% of students of our college are get placed in many popular companies. Average on-campus placement package is approximately 4.5 lakh per annum. Many of the students of our college placed off-campus also. Highest package of this year is 39 lakh per annum.
In case of my course, It costs 16000 rupees per year for 4 years.

Based on your research and personal preferences, make an informed decision. If you are confident about getting a seat in one of your higher preference colleges in the next rounds, it might be worth waiting. Otherwise, securing a seat in CSE at NSEC could be a prudent choice.
Best of luck!
Hi there,
Congratulations on getting 103 rank in wbjee.
At the time of counselling you should fill your choice according to the preference of the colleges in which you want to take the admissions. You must fill the choices accordingly. You can visit the official website of the wbjee and various institutes and can know about the cutoff to know at which rank which college is assigned.
If you have filled kgec cse as your 1st choice and jgec cse as your 2nd choice then that seat will be allocated to you which is available to you at this rank. If both seats are available at this rank, then the seat which you have filled in the 1st option will be assigned to you since the choices are priority wise.
So according to your choice filling rankings you will be alloted the seat in the counsellings.
You can also take help of our college predictor which is specifically designed to give you a list of colleges which are available at your rank. The link is mentioned below:
