Murshidabad College of Engineering and Technology, Murshidabad Admission Process

Murshidabad College of Engineering and Technology (MCET), self-financing institute is located at Berhampore, West Bengal. The college offers four B.Tech programs and has a competitive scheme for admitting the most competent students. The admission process at MCET is based on national and state-level entrance examination scores.

The admission cycle for MCET is mostly in consonance with the academic calendar; applications open in the first quarter of the year for an academic session starting in either July or August. The institute accepts scores from two major entrance examinations: the Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) Main, conducted at the national level, and the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE), a state-level examination.

For an applicant of any B.Tech program, the basic eligibility criteria include the successful completion of the 10+2 or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. The candidates must have scored at least minimum aggregate marks as specified by the regulatory authorities.

Application Process

The application process for Murshidabad College of Engineering and Technology comprises several steps:

1. Entrance exam: Candidates must sit for JEE Main or WBJEE. It is advisable to attempt both exams for the best chance of securing admission.

2. Application form: After the declaration of state and national-level entrance, eligible candidates will have to fill in the application form for MCET. The application form can be downloaded from the official website of the college or through the state's centralized admission portal.

3. Documentation: Along with the application form, candidates also have to submit various documents, which may include:

6. Document verification: All the documents submitted will be verified by the college. Candidates should ensure that they possess the originals of all the documents needed.

7. Candidates' admission is confirmed at MCET after the verification of documents and payment of fees.

Degree-Wise Admission Process

B.Tech: There are four B.Tech programs offered by MCET, namely in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering. The admission process for all B.Tech programs will be identical and will depend in merit based on either JEE-Main or WBJEE scores in that particular year. Seats available for each course are:

  1. B.Tech Civil Engineering-60
  2. B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering-60
  3. B.Tech Electrical Engineering-60
  4. B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering-30

The admissions procedure for all B.Tech programs states: "Students qualifying in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) may also be admitted as decided by the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, AICTE, and WBUT." This clearly means that the final admission procedure is decided as per the guidelines set by these bodies.
