SASTRA University Thanjavur Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

There are 9 boys' hostel providing accommodation to over 4000 boys. The hostels are of the following types: 1. Single Room / 2-in-1 / 4-in1 (Bath Attached). 2. Single Room / 2-in-1 / 3-in-1 / 4-in-1 The hostels provide a salubrious ambience and a feel-good climate and are equipped with all amenities for living, dining and recreation that makes each inmate feel at home. They provide a right atmosphere for intellectual stimulation and balanced growth. SASTRA has always believed in catering to the palate and providing wholesome and balanced nutrition in a hygienic environment. A completely balanced vegetarian diet is served in all hostels equipped with steam-cooking facilities. There is also North Indian Cuisine in addition to the South Indian culinary delights. 370 Mbps Wi-Fi is available to all the inmates of the hostels. A well furnished guest house with adquate number of A/C and non-A/C rooms is available for visitors on prior request and subject to availability.

SASTRA University provides a full health framework for the candidate who’s enrolled. SASTRA University Hospitals and medical facilities can be accessed by the students 24*7 in case of emergency.

SASTRA University had a facility for Gymnasium for those candidates who want to work on their fitness, this can be accessed by the candidates within the specified time period.

The SASTRA University Central Library has around 1,02,600 books and conforms to 290 journals and magazines in fields such as management, architecture, and law. It also has over 35 web publication databases that it subscribes to. About 18,000 Springer ebooks on a variety of topics have been downloaded by the library. The library's transfers are completely programmed, and automation encompasses the entire library's operations.

SASTRA University sports complex is open for the students who want to exercise their hobbies or passion along with their studies, mainly complex include facilities for the cricket ground, basketball courts, badminton court, football ground, etc.  

The university has excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.

The cafeteria is open for the students, healthy and well-qualified food is provided to the students that are even confirmed by the dieticians. Candidate can have access to SASTRA Cafeteria anytime they want, it’s open 24*7 for candidates studying at SASTRA University.  

Students can have access to the SASTRA auditorium within the specified time period as per the framework set by the university. SASTRA University auditorium is used in case of workshops, seminars, etc by the university as well.

The university has Wi-Fi facility for the students and staff.

The university provides a bank and post office facility near the campus. Indian overseas bank’s two branches are available within the SASTRA University campus that can be accessed any time in a whole day and the postal services are available within the campus by the department of post and telegraph.

There are various bookstores like Canopy, Higginbothams, Gurunath stores are available within the SASTRA University campus for the convenience of the students.

SASTRA University provides a platform to carry out research and practical work in a manner of labs, mainly the labs like chemistry, computer, biochemistry, survey, English communication labs are available that can be accessed by the candidates.

The College has 80% of the building is designed for handicapped students

The various Student's Clubs of SASTRA - Auto Club, Literary Club, Oratory and Debating Club, Fine Arts Club, JAM Club, Quiz Club, etc. conduct weekly meetings to bring out and develop the latent talents of the students by giving them focused training and practice in the respective fields.

The Athenaeum and the None such Club of the School of Humanities & Sciences organized quite a number of meetings to hone the communication skills of the students especially the freshmen. These clubs have helped SASTRA secure honours in various inter-college cultural competitions like SAARANG, FESTEMBER, RIVERA, etc.

DAKSH & KURUKSASTRA are SASTRA's National Level Annual Technical and Cultural festivals respectively and is conducted by the various student clubs and associations with fanfare.

COLOSSEUM & FUERA are SASTRA's inter and intra college sports competitions.

Youth Parliament

The final round of the National Level competition of the Sixth National Youth Parliament competition conducted by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, New Delhi was held at SASTRA premises. The debate this time focused on issues of social and economic concerns like ground water pollution, India's stand at the WTO, Common Civil Code, Terrorism, etc. All students excelled in their performances based on an extensively researched script. Seven students have been selected to witness a live parliament session.
