HMCE Kalyani Admission Process

The Hemnalini Memorial College of Engineering (HMCE), Kalyani, is one of the fast-growing institutions among this field of engineering education. HMCE Kalyani is affiliated with the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, Kolkata, and hence the admission procedures for aspiring engineers are much diversified. The main criteria under which the college disposes of students would be their performance in two major entrance examinations: that is, the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) as well as the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) or JEE Main. 

HMCE Kalyani admission procedures are in most cases synchronized according to the academic calendar, and the process for admission normally begins in the early months of the year. Therefore, some important dates to note for the coming academic session would be:

  • WBJEE Exam Date: April 27, 2025
  • JEE Main Exam: Dates of 2025 are to be announced later; however, city intimation slips may be available from January 3, 2025.

The eligibility criteria for admission into the B.Tech program at HMCE Kalyani are:

  1. Completion of 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects
  2. Qualifying marks in either WBJEE or JEE Main
  3. Additional criteria may be imposed as per the state government or otherwise by the college

Admission to all B.Tech programs at HMCE Kalyani has a seating capacity of 573. The facilities of the college include laboratories, libraries, an IT infrastructure, and hostels equipped with modern amenities, spread over a total area of 10 acres.

Application Process

There are several procedures involved in gaining admission to HMCE Kalyani:

1. Entrance Exam Registration:

  • WBJEE: Candidates apply through the official WBJEE website. Registration usually opens in January and closes in March.
  • JEE Main: Candidates register through the National Testing Agency (NTA) website. This usually happens in November-December for the following year's admission.

2. Entrance Examination:

  • WBJEE: Will be held on April 27, 2025. It is an offline examination with two shifts.
  • JEE Main: Multiple session test. Dates for 2025 are yet to be announced.

3. Declaration of Result: Await the declaration of either WBJEE or JEE Main results.

4. Counseling Registration:

  • After results are declared, eligible candidates must register for the state counseling process.
  • This involves mostly filling an online form and paying a counseling fee.

5. Choice Filling: Candidates must fill in their selected colleges and courses based on their preference.

6. Seat Allotment: Candidates shall be allotted seats based on merit and their choices.

7. Document Verification:

If allotted a seat at HMCE Kalyani, the candidate must report to the college for verification of documents.

The documents are mainly:

  • Scorecard of the entrance
  • Mark sheets and certificates of class 10 and 12
  • Character certificate
  • Migration certificate (if applicable)
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Domicile certificate (if required)
  • Passport-sized recent photographs

8. Fee Payment: After successful verification, candidates are required to pay the necessary fees to confirm their admission.

9. Final Admission: Upon fee payment, the candidate will be formally admitted to HMCE Kalyani.

Degree wise Admission Process

  1. B.Tech Programs: HMCE Kalyani provides five B.Tech programs with a total intake of 30 students each.
  2. B.Tech in Civil and Environmental Engineering
  3. B.Tech in Civil Engineering
  4. B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering
  5. B.Tech in Food Technology
  6. B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

The admission processes are the same for all B.Tech programs:

  • Candidates must either WBJEE or JEE Main.
  • A merit list will then be prepared based on the scores of admission tests.
  • The counseling and allotment of seats will be done as per state rules.
  • The candidates should register for counseling after results are declared.
