The Institute of Technology & Marine Engineering (NITMAS) offers several B.Tech programs and follows a competitive admission procedure based on national and state-level entrance tests.
The admissions at NITMAS will usually go by the academic calendar, with the process commencing in the months leading up to the commencement of the academic year in August-September. Applicants to this institute are basically offered two national and state entry-level competitive exams: the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, which is national, and the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE), which is state-wise.
Students intending to pursue undergraduate B.Tech programs ought to have completed their higher secondary school education up to grade 12 (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as their compulsory subjects. NITMAS admits students also through lateral entry for the second year into B.Tech programs via the WBJEE JELET (Joint Entrance for Lateral Entry Test).
Application Process
The application procedure at NITMAS varies depending on the entrance exams taken:
For JEE Main:
1.Registering and appearing for the JEE Main Examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA);
2.Securing a Qualifying Valid JEE Main Score;
3.Applying for admission in NITMAS by means of the centralized process of counseling (details are to be checked on the institute's own website);
4.Upon selection, admission of shortlisted candidates into NITMAS is to be done by document verification and fee payment.
For WBJEE:
1.Registering for and appearing in the WBJEE Examination;
2.Qualifying with a valid WBJEE rank;
3.Participation in the WBJEE Counseling and choose NITMAS as the preferred institute;
4.If allotted a seat, reporting to NITMAS for document verification and admission.</P>
For Lateral Entry (WBJEE JELET):
1.Register and appear for the WBJEE JELET examination.
2.Qualify with a valid JELET rank.
3.Participate in the lateral entry admission Counseling.
4.Complete the admission process at NITMAS, if selected.
Admission Process Degree Wise
B.Tech programs that NITMAS offers consist of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Marine Engineering, and Biotechnology. Admission to all B.Tech courses is only through WBJEE and/or JEE Main. The electronic, communication, and computer engineering B.Tech have a sanctioned intake of 60 students. For lateral entry into the 2nd year, admission is administered through WBJEE JELET.
