Barkatullah University originally known as Bhopal University, was established in 1970 in the capital of Madhya Pradesh. BU Bhopal received a 'B' grade accreditation from NAAC in 2015. BU Bhopal was renamed Barkatullah Vishwavidyalaya in 1988 to honor the esteemed freedom fighter, Professor Barkatullah, a native of Bhopal. 

Barkatullah University Bhopal offers a variety of higher education programmes through its affiliated colleges and university departments across multiple faculties. Barkatullah University academic offerings include programmes such as B.Ed Self Finance, B.Pharma, BA LLB, B.P.Ed, BA Sociology Hons, MBA, M.Com, LLM, MA, MSc, PGD, and PhD. Barkatullah University's jurisdiction spans eight districts: Bhopal, Sehore, Vidisha, Raisen, Hoshangabad, Harda, Betul, and Rajgarh. Barkatullah University has affiliations with one engineering college, two colleges of education, one technical teacher training institute, three medical colleges, a college of indology and museology, an English language teacher training institute, as well as Unani, Ayurvedic, Physiotherapy, and Homoeopathic colleges. Barkatullah University accepts various entrance exams for admission, including CUET/NEET PG/AIAPGET/CMAT/JEE Main.

Barkatullah University Bhopal has placement cell that is focused on providing training and job placement opportunities for students. Barkatullah University organises programs to enhance students' skills and conducts campus placement drives to aid in securing career positions. The cell at Barkatullah University also arranges seminars and activities to help students explore career options and achieve their professional aspirations. The 400-acre campus of Barkatullah University Bhopal is well-equipped with modern facilities, including hostels, a library, an auditorium, and additional amenities such as a gym, cafeteria, wifi, and medical services, all aimed at supporting student welfare and development.

Barkatullah University Bhopal Location 

BU Bhopal is situated on a sprawling campus spanning approximately 400 acres, the BU Bhopal is positioned alongside the Hoshangabad highway, approximately 3 kilometers away from the Habibganj Railway Station. The railway station is 6.5 km away from Bhopal. From the Habibganj railway station, the distance of  Bhopal University is 3 km. Students can reach there via Narmadapuram road. Public transport facility is available from the railway station.
