The Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), located in Shibpur, Kolkata, is well known for the Engineering and Technological courses they offer. However, a college is not only known for its academics, but the facilities provided by the college also play a very important role. Any student while selecting where they want to study, looks at the facilities provided by the college/university as well.
IIEST Shibpur infrastructure allows for the proper development of a student. Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology focuses a lot on the non-academic facilities for their college students as well to help them receive holistic development. They have an elaborative description of the huge number of facilities they offer. The details of IIEST Shibpur facilities are mentioned below:
Quick Links
There are 9 multi-seated hostels for boys: A. C. Roy Hall (Hostel 7) D. Banerjee Hall (Hostel 8) A. K. Seal Hall (Hostel 9) Hostel 10 Hostel 11 Hostel 13 – exclusively for PG and Research Scholars Hostel 14 Hostel 15 Hostel 16 There are 5 single-seated halls for boys: Richardson Hall Macdonald Hall Sen Hall Sengupta Hall Wolfenden Hall
Two girls' hostels for UG students and one girls' hostel for PG and Research Scholars There are 3 girls' hostels (single and multi-seated): Sister Nivedita Ladies Hostel Pandya Hall Lt. William Hall of Residence - for PG and Research Scholars
IIEST facilities include medical facilities too. A hospital is available in the IIEST campus and a 24 hours ambulance facility is also available for the students and staff.
The century-old heritage athletic club building houses the gymnasium. GAABESU, our alumni association, recently renovated the building, bought new equipment, and inaugurated the upgraded gymnasium in August 2014.
A wide range of books from different streams are available in the IIEST library. A spacious place where students can visit to develop their academic knowledge. The library includes all the books of B.Tech, M.Tech as well as daily newspaper and current affairs magazines.
As IIEST Shibpur believes in overall growth of students, different sports facilities are available. There is a football ground, basketball court and many others. Lord's Ground is the biggest ground of IIEST campus.
Computing facilities are also provided at IIEST Shibpur. The campus is well equipped with computer resources and is supported by hardware and software for various computing requirements.
The University has an auditorium facility for events and seminar.
The University has a good networking for the alumni association.
For the guests of the institute and others, there is a guesthouse for their accommodation. Not only the stay, but the house also provides vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.
IIEST Shibpur has student labs where their skills can be used and their visibility available. These laboratories are well equipped with the latest technologies and equipment.
For those students who are far away from home, and need emergency money or do not want to go far to withdraw cash, an ATM has been put on campus for easy removal of the money. The main administrative building also contains a bank on the campus of the institute.
The Alumni Swimming Pool is a wonderful gift from our alumni assocation, GAABESU, to the residents of the institute. It started operating from April 2013.
IIEST campus is full with various eateries and canteens. There are different canteens available separately for students, staff and other guests. The cafe coffee day and NesCafe outlets are also available.
Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology situated in Shibpur Having good infrastructure.Certainly lacks the facility & infrastructure of a top notch institute (refers to my dept.-archi), and heard a lot of complaints from my B.Tech friends about the placement department, which I presume is true to a large extent, although the new INI tag will be able to solve the problem, hopefully. But, students here get one hell of an experience of the hostel life, senior-junior relationship is something we learn to treasure and cherish.
Our college having great infrastructure with all the facilities are available. Library is very well maintained with all books and papers you need with space to study there as well. Hostels on the other hand really need serious maintainance. The food quality is very bad to average. Drinking water is not very good as well. There are no well made tables or chairs in hostels, you have to buy them on your own. For sports there are 2 big grounds where you can play cricket and football. There is separate court for basketball and one for badminton. Except these there isn't anything else in sports department.
Great Infrastructure but placements should be improved as there was no placement in 2020 for Applied Geology. I am pretty sure the engineering departments are very much good at infrastructure but the university authorities must pay attention t the science departments as well.
Choosing between Biotechnology and Civil Engineering depends on your interests and career goals. Biotechnology can offer exciting opportunities in research, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals, especially if you're passionate about biological sciences and innovation in life sciences. Civil Engineering, on the other hand, provides a more traditional engineering path with opportunities in infrastructure development and construction.
If you're interested in biotechnology and the field excites you, it could be a worthwhile choice. However, if you feel more inclined towards traditional engineering and the opportunities it presents, you might have considered civil engineering more suitable. Both fields have their merits, so it's essential to align your choice with your career aspirations and interests.
Hope it helps..
Hello Aspirant,
Considering you as an obc category student , the no home state quota rank acquired by you is not enough to fetch you the aerospace branch because the closing cut off rank for aerospace was around 7344 in previous year.
Cut offs further depend on certain factors such as number of candidates appearing in the examination, previous year cutoffs and difficulty level of the examination but I would suggest you to look for other colleges as this branch in this college is not possible.
To get more information about the cut offs you can check out the link given below -
