About VSSUT Sambalpur
Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Sambalpur was founded in August 1956 by the Odisha Government. The University is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Sambalpur was formerly known as University College of Engineering which was placed under the Sambalpur University in 1967 and under BPUT in 2002.
Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Sambalpur provides admissions to UG, PG, M.Phil and doctoral programmes. VSSUT grants admissions to B.Tech and B.Arch courses on the basis of JEE Main or OJEE scores while M.Tech admissions are finalised on the basis of GATE scores. For M.Sc, M.Phil and Ph.D courses, VSSUT conducts its own entrance examination.

Wi-fi is speed. The labs are good and the classroom look like heaven and library is like a wonderful nature. The food in the hostel is good but according the students mind set it will be. The canteen is good and there is a dispensary also for medical purpose. There is availability of sports.

It is a good college Wi-Fi is enabled in the hostels. The laboratories are very good and the classrooms are not well-maintained. The library is also very good and it is very well-maintained. According to the information with a rank of 1.08 lakh in JEE Mains 2024 , securing a seat in the CS or IT branch at OUTR Bhubaneswar or VSSUT might be quite challenging. The cutoff ranks for these branches are generally much higher.

This is followed with specialized elective courses in the 7th, 8th and 9th Semesters and an intensive Masters Thesis in the 9th and 10th Semester. At end of 10th Semester on successful completion of the programme, the student shall be issued a B.Tech degree in the concerned core branch and a M.Tech degree with specialisations.

As per the students, the only thing that KIIT edges over it is the infrastructure and the lab/ hostel/ mess facilities for students along with the location. But academic and placement's wise VSSUT is superior to KIIT.
8: Is VSSUT good for btech?
Most of the students get placed in campus placements. So the VSSUT placements are pretty decent. Most of the MNCs visit VSSUT campus including TCS, Infosys Wipro, Cognizant, IBM, Deloitte, PwC, Aditya Birla, Tata steel, Tata power etc. Last year the highest package offered in B.Tech CSE was Rs 16 lakh per annum. So yes it is good for B.tech.
9: Is there ragging in VSSUT Burla?
There have been cases of ragging earlier in VSSUT Burla. However the strict disciplinary action was taken. The university has now imposed anti-ragging regulations on its website. For more infrmation visit the official VSSUT website, www.vssut.ac.in/anti-ragging.php.
10: Is VSSUT under BPUT?
Yes VSSUT comes under Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT). In 1956, University College of Engineering (UCE) started with 20 students enrolling into 3 branches, namely the Civil Engineering, the Electrical Engineering and the Mechanical Engineering. Subsequently, UCE got transferred to the administrative control of Sambalpur University in January 1967 and later on to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) by BPUT Act-2002 in July, 2002.
