I would recommend you IIEST Shibpur for civil engineering because both the college's are great in terms of infrastructure, facilities, faculty etc but when our branch and it's placements and learning is concerned IIEST Shibpur wins over NIT Durgapur as NIT Durgapur is great for CS students but for civil engineering IIEST Shibpur is great as it has witnessed students with great placements with attractive salary packages.

Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology Shibpur is one of the oldest engineering colleges of India. It has been ranked at 45th position by NIRF among universities of India. In Engineering, it has received a rank at 21st position. IIEST Shibpur is far better than many NITs and have proper placements for Information technology students. CSE and IT grab most of the placements. But if you carefully observe the placement scenario in IIEST, the no. Of the students who are getting placed companies like Accenture, CTS, IBM, Wipro, TCS, Infosys etc is very high. More than 90% students get placed in reputed companies with an average package of 5 to 5.5 lpa from CSE and IT departments. You can go for any of these two as both have good placements. I am currently a student of iiest shibpur studying in 2nd year. I would suggest you to choose iiest shibpur electrical over nit durgapur mechanical any day. Don't hesitate a bit. The placements and ranking of iiest shibpur are much better tha nit durgapur. Also the environment here is very good. The iiest shibpur family is waiting for you. Iiest shibpur is 164 years old and has a great network of alumni which will help you a lot later. Also you'll have good opportunities for internships and the campus is really good, spread in about 163 acres of land.
Ranking: Though this is not the best way to judge or compare colleges but according to the latest NIRF rankings IIEST Shibpur is ranked 20 and NIT Durgapur 47 .

Funding : The funding IIEST receives is at par with the old IITs . NITs including Durgapur receive 40% lower funding

Campus : They are more or less same in surface area ( though Durgapur is a little bigger , I found out on wiki) but IIESTs campus is much better maintained and greener and cleaner as compared to NIT Durgapur . The architecture of 3rd and 4th year halls of residences are also eye-catching at IIEST.

Hostel: Hostels at IIEST are much better maintained and cleaner . Durgapur hostels seem to be dilapidated buildings in one neglected part of the campus with horrible toilets and the worse food ( I learnt this from my friends there ) . IIEST on the other hand serves good food and hostels are very well maintained . The 3rd and 4th year halls of residense are noteworthy for their architechture . Overall much better hostels for IIEST
Placements:More or less same . NIT Durgapur has marginally bigger highest package and average package but IIEST has greater median package which is of greater value . Placement percentages are more or less same . IIEST just became an Indian institute under the central government in 2014 while NIT came under central goverment in early 2000s. IIEST placements are improving at a rapid pace . NIT Dgp placements are also improving but at a slower pace .

IIEST Shibpur is far better college than NIT Raipur. As per NIRF Ranking, 2020, NIT Raipur stands at 61st position whereas IIEST Shibpur stands at 21st position.

In the terms of placements, by a notch IIEST Shibpur is better than NIT Raipur, especially for the CSE, ECE, EEE Branches. IIEST Shibpur is famous for Aeronautical and Aerospace branches of engineering.

Comparing both the Institutes there's no doubt that IIEST has an upper hand compared to NIT Raipur.

In NIT Raipur around 60-80 students get placed in ECE department. The average Salary being around 6 lacs. The Major recruiting companies are basically software companies. Very few core companies visit the campus.

In IIEST Shibpur IT department was the Highest recruited department in 2019. The percentage of students getting placed is around 88% in IT department. The average salary package is around 5 lakhs.

NIT does have brand value but IIEST is no less. It has a NIRF ranking better than that of NIT Raipur and the placement chances of IT department is better than that of ECE. Also you should choose the department which you have the most interest in. If you're interested in ECE then go for NIT and if you're interested in IT then go for IIEST. Both the institutes are really nice and guarantee a decent chance during placements.

ramakrishnaeswar100 , From some research on internet I found that IIEST SHIBPUR is a good college because it has less fess with good placement and if we talk about infrastructure then both colleges are same in infrastructure.

Hello aspirant, as you mentioned that percentile in JEE mains 2020 is 94.55. I am assuming you belong to general category as you have not specified it.

According to the previous year's cutoff trend you don't have a chance of getting into the colleges you have mentioned. Unfortunately, these are colleges won't be available for you.
