ApplyRanked #42 among Engineering colleges in India by NIRF | Highest CTC 50 LPA , 100% Placements
Hi aspirant,
At this rank, you might get the following branches( considering you're not from West Bengal):
Keeping in mind that cut-offs have decreased as compared to last year, You might just get Electrical at IIEST Shibpur.
All the best
Hi Abhishek,
If you got a seat in IIEST shibpur in josaa first round then you have to report at the reporting center. IIEST shibpur comes under the NIT+ system. so you have to report at the following reporting centers. here I will provide the link for the reporting centers list.
https://josaa.nic.in/webinfocms/Handler/FileHandler.ashx?i=File&ii=154&iii=Y
Once you go through this link and check the reporting center which is near to your home town. Then it is easier for you.
thank you.
Hi
Well, around 100+ in the first year. No wonder why this is so popular among them. But there are other regional groups too. So the entire campus is a mixture of people from all over India. Mostly from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, North East, Telangana after West Bengal.
Best of Luck.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
Hello satyam,
It depends on your interest either you are passionate about coding or you are passionate about semiconductor physics. College wise definitely nsit delhi has an upper hand in almost every thing as first of all it is situated in new delhi where you can simultaneously prepare for many government exams like upsc ssc etc.
Hello satyam,
Iiest shibpur is one of top colleges of west bengal with nirf ranking 19 in engineering colleges all over india.
The placements are OK. The highest package offered to the students of the CSE stream is 12 LPA which is a good package to start with. The placements are improving every year as it belongs to an INI the standards of IITs and NITs.
Day by day everything is improving both faculty and course circulum is being updated.
Hi,
The funding from the central government to IIEST is at par with the older IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Kgp, Kanpur). JU in comparison gets a fraction of that amount from state government.
Better funding translates into better halls/hostels, labs, Internet facilities, Library, Faculty and Infrastructure in general. Hence + 1 to IIEST w.r.t to Funding.
In the recently published MHRD rankings IIEST is ranked at 20A and it is better than JU. See the following- MHRD, National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF),
Thus, +1 to IIEST
Academically, IIEST is in the process of employing best teachers across the country as both salary and independence of choosing research projects are going to be more in a central institute. Please refer to - Recruitment of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor ( Advt. No. OC/D (AA)/15/34, 9th Oct, 2015) , Hence +1 to IIEST in terms of faculty/research quality.
Students at IIEST come from all over India, thus you can expect a rich cultural and social diversity at campus unlike JU, which is a state run university and admits students from WB mostly. +1 to IIEST
Placement in IIEST is getting better every passing year. In fact IIEST has already signed a MOU with CII in order to attract many more core engineering companies , read this : IIEST upbeat on industry link-up.
IIEST is going to host the first of its kind TEDx eventat in eastern India and regularly hosts an array of events giving the students both academic and industry exposure. Get more updates here: TEDxIIESTShibpur | TED.com
If you want to pursue higher studies, the brand name of an "Indian Institute" will serve you better.
With obc category rank 125900
Hello Satyam,
I think you should go with the iiest shibpur with the CSE branch, As the trends the scope of computer science brance is higher than any other branch, all these scenario happen due to fast moving digital India and you should not worry about the college.
All the best.
Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology situated in Shibpur Having good infrastructure.Certainly lacks the facility & infrastructure of a top notch institute (refers to my dept.-archi), and heard a lot of complaints from my B.Tech friends about the placement department, which I presume is true to a large extent, although the new INI tag will be able to solve the problem, hopefully. But, students here get one hell of an experience of the hostel life, senior-junior relationship is something we learn to treasure and cherish.
Our college having great infrastructure with all the facilities are available. Library is very well maintained with all books and papers you need with space to study there as well. Hostels on the other hand really need serious maintainance. The food quality is very bad to average. Drinking water is not very good as well. There are no well made tables or chairs in hostels, you have to buy them on your own. For sports there are 2 big grounds where you can play cricket and football. There is separate court for basketball and one for badminton. Except these there isn't anything else in sports department.
Great Infrastructure but placements should be improved as there was no placement in 2020 for Applied Geology. I am pretty sure the engineering departments are very much good at infrastructure but the university authorities must pay attention t the science departments as well.
