Hello,
Yes, if you are admitted to IISc Bangalore through JEE Mains , then you usually do not have an interview for the B.Tech program. The IISc Bangalore admission procedure for undergraduate courses, which are B.Tech programs, is primarily based on scores in national entrance exams like JEE Mains or KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana).
Merit-based admission is provided through JEE Mains, but an interview is not normally required. However, there may be a written test or interview for certain courses or special programs at IISc Bangalore. Anyway, it is always recommended to check their official guidelines and announcements for any new updates on the admission process for the specific year.
In short, interviews are not a part of the usual process for admission to B.Tech at IISc based on JEE Mains.
Hi Siddhi,
Yes, you can actually get admission to IISc Bangalore through JEE Mains, but only in a specific condition and in a particular process. Well, let me make everything clear for you here-
Admission to IISc Bangalore through JEE Mains
1. **Eligibility Criteria:**
IISc Bangalore accepts **JEE Main, JEE Advanced, and KVPY scores** for admission to its **4-year Bachelor of Science (BS)** program.
- A good **JEE Main rank (top percentile)** is generally required since the competition for IISc is extremely high.
2. **Application Process:**
- IISc does not participate in centralized counseling like JoSAA for JEE Main. You need to apply separately through the IISc admissions portal.
- Here's how you can apply:
1. Look at the official website of IISc Bangalore when the application process is open (usually during the months of March and April every year).
2. Fill up the online application form and mention your JEE Main score or rank.
3. Send in the application form by the deadline and pay the application fee.
3. **Selection Process:**
- IISc considers only the **cream of the crop of students from JEE Main** for shortlisting candidates.
- There is no **specific cutoff for JEE Main** because that can change every year with an applicant pool. However, to give you an idea:
- General category: It should ideally be **ranked below 250-500**.
- SC/ST/OBC: The cutoff is relatively relaxed, yet they expect strong ranks.
4. Merit List and Admission Offer:
- After preparation of the merit list using your JEE Main rank by IISc, they will issue admission offers to selected candidates.
- Once an offer is received, admission formalities need to be completed within the given timeframe.
Clarification Regarding IISc Admission through Other Exams
- IISc **does not consider IAT** (IISER Aptitude Test); that’s for IISER admissions.
- Apart from JEE Main, they also accept:
- **JEE Advanced Scores**: Generally, students with ranks below 2500 in JEE Advanced are eligible.
- **KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana)**: Another popular route for IISc aspirants.
Conclusion
You can get admission to IISc Bangalore through JEE Main but only when you have a top rank, ideally in the range of top **500-600 AIR** . Always apply directly to IISc through their official portal within the application period. Preparation for a strong performance in JEE Main is crucial.
