Candidates will get to study the different kinds of materials used in the construction of a building, such as clay, stone, and steel, as well as walling systems, and flooring systems. The Building Materials and Composites programme by Swayam will also cover the use of nanotechnology in this field and its applications.

The Building cost estimation simplified programme mainly targets learners who want to take up personal projects and those who wish to become a Project Manager or Project Surveyor. This was a part of the B.Tech in Construction Management course, which IGNOU used to offer in the past. 

Furthermore, the online training for Building cost estimation simplified course curriculum covers the essential topics such as an estimation of cost, the construction cost of a building, analysis of rates, and bills of building work. Through these, the programme aims to simplify the building cost estimation basics. Additionally, it also explains the entire process of an architect preparing the initial drawings and the surveyor calculating the construction costs using the quantities and rates.
