1. Communication plays an important role in this profession. Surgeons should develop a comfortable atmosphere among the patients so that patients can talk about their medical conditions, and it is important to brief the patients about the basics of the surgery.
2. Calm and Composed attitude: It has been found that sometimes surgeries can extend for hours, and the surgeons must maintain the calm and remain focused for hours.
3. Team management: As the surgery doesn’t just involve a single surgeon. All the nurses and junior surgeons are also there. So the senior surgeon should brief the team before every surgery and maintain a positive attitude.
The course curriculum of Plastic Surgery is designed in a structured way where students are being taught by the senior resident doctors who are specialized in their fields. Many interdepartmental meetings are also held to inform the students about research and medical activities of other departments. Clinical rounds are also conducted in which students get to know about the real-life problems of patients and how to address them calmly. Students are also taught about major operative procedures so that they can understand how to be ethical while doing surgeries during OT (Operation Theatre).
