Earlier a few physicians could diagnose problems related to a sports injury. But in the late 20th century the field of sports medicine emerged. The candidate who pursues Sports medicine, also known as sports and exercise medicine will also gain extensive knowledge about musculoskeletal medicine which gives them an idea about various injuries related to ligament, tendon, and bone problems.
There are two levels of this course you can either do Bachelors in Sports and Exercise Medicine or then go for an MD in sports medicine, or you can complete the MBBS degree and then go for an MD specialization in sports medicine. The duration of the bachelor’s degree is 3.5 years, and MD is 2 years. The aspiring candidate can complete their course in sports medicine and have a bright career in the field.
For every course, the college/university has certain eligibility criteria which the candidate needs to have. The eligibility criteria for Sports Medicine are as follows:
For Undergraduate course
The candidate should have passed 10+2 in science stream from well-recognized board
He/she should have an aggregate of 50 per cent in streams required by the university/ college.
For Postgraduate course
The candidate should hold MBBS from a well-recognized university recognized by MCI.
He/she should have an aggregate of 50 per cent and above.

NEET PG - National Eligibility cum entrance test is conducted every year for students who wish to pursue the postgraduate in the doctor of medicine, master of surgery and diploma courses to join the government or private medical colleges.
In some cases, the college/university conducts entrance tests for candidates who wish to pursue the UG and PG courses at their university.
