IIT Guwahati (IITG) Facilities

The IIT Guwahati(IITG) offers a plethora of facilities for its students and faculty. From academic facilities to sports, they have it all for their students. IIT Guwahati facilities are robust and modern and offer a comfortable environment for students. IIT Guwahati facilities include a central library, gym, auditorium, WIFI, sports grounds, labs, classrooms, stadiums, hospital, commercial complex and others. The accommodation facility at IIT Guwahati is quite good since there are separate rooms provided to every student.

A total of 2 girls' hostels and ten boys' hostels are situated inside the campus, with every hostel having its mess facilities. There are various inter-hostel events conducted every year as well, which keep the students engaged and help them develop an all-round perspective. The internet facility provided is also quite efficient, with high-speed Wi-fi and a computer lab available 24-7 for the students. IIT Guwahati facilities make sure students do not face any inconvenience at the campus.

Boys Hostel
All the Boys students of the Institute have been provided with hostel rooms on the campus. The accommodation is single-seater. These hostels are equipped with all modern amenities. There are facilities for sports and recreation such as satellite TV, indoor games and a gymnasium. Facilities for outdoor games like volleyball, basketball, and football are also there. Every room in the hostels is provided with network connectivity. Separate accommodation is provided to the girl students. Around-the-clock canteen is in operation to cater to the needs of the students.
Girls Hostel
All the Girls students of the Institute have been provided with hostel rooms on the campus. The accommodation is single-seater. These hostels are equipped with all modern amenities. There are facilities for sports and recreation such as satellite TV, indoor games and a gymnasium. Facilities for outdoor games like volleyball, basketball, and football are also there. Every room in the hostels is provided with network connectivity. Separate accommodation is provided to the girl students. Around-the-clock canteen is in operation to cater to the needs of the students.
Medical/Hospital
An in-campus hospital with approximately 30beds is available for the students, faculties or staff members 24×7 in case of health emergencies.
Gym
A well-equipped gym is provided by IIT, Guwahati for the students to help them maintain a healthy lifestyle and stay fresh.
Library
The Central Library, one of the important central facilities of the Institute, currently has a collection of over 1,17,000 items including 2605 subscribed online journals and magazines.
Sports
The complex has an indoor sports stadium with table tennis, badminton, gymnasium, squash courts, student Gymkhana office. It also has a swimming pool which is 8lane 50metre long. A field for conducting all outdoor games provides ample space and opportunities for the students.
I.T Infrastructure
The IIT Guwahati has excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.
Cafeteria
The IIT Guwahati has a canteen facility for staff and students.
Auditorium
IIT, Guwahati has a conference centre with 2 halls of 150 intake and 2 more halls with 200 intake along with a food court for students, faculty and staff members.
Alumni Associations
This association, IITGAA provides a platform to connect with the IIT, Guwahati's alumni, faculty, students, and staff.
Wifi
Wide network on a Gigabit Ethernet Backbone with connection in every hostel room, campus is available for the students, faculty and staff members of IIT, Guwahati.
Swimming Pool
The IIT Guwahati has the Swimming Pool facility for its faculty, staff, and students.
Classrooms
A well-maintained classrooms with proper ventilation, space and good environment is present in the campus for providing best quality education to its students. It also four different lecture halls with 250 seat capacity plus an auditorium with 1500 capacity for events, teaching or even cultural programmes, workshops and guest lectures from eminent personalities among others.
Guest Room/Waiting Room
A guest with 72room, faculty quarters, hostels is available for the guest or students guardian to make their stay at the institute comfortable.

impressive infrastructure , vibrant academics environment , modern classrooms with advanced technology , well stocked libraries , sports are best , hostel are good . the infrastructure significantly enhances the educational experiences.

College Infrastructure

Infrastructure is really good; at most places, you will get Wi-Fi. The library is also excellent. It's very comfortable reading in the library. The classroom is good, facilities are good—everything is good. In the hostel, you will get sufficient washing machines and a water cooler on each floor.

I have got water resources Engineering at IIT Guwahati in round 5 of COAP and i accepted and freeze it . I would like to upgrade to geotechnical engineering.What should I do?Is there any internal upgradation process in iit guwahati after all coap round

There isn't a formal internal upgrade process at IIT Guwahati after all COAP rounds for changing branches.

COAP (Committee on Applied Sciences Programs) is a centralized allotment system ensuring transparency and fairness. Once you have accepted and frozen your seat, it's unlikely to be reopened for internal upgradation.

IIT Guwahati has a specific number of seats allocated for each program. Upgrading you to Geotechnical Engineering might take away a seat from someone who might have preferred it during COAP.

Contact the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Guwahati. Explain your situation and inquire if there's any exceptional circumstance where an internal transfer might be possible (highly unlikely but worth a try).

While you can't switch branches now, keep these options in mind for the future After completing your B.Tech in Water Resources Engineering, you can pursue an M.Tech in Geotechnical Engineering at IIT Guwahati or other institutes. This would allow you to specialize in Geotechnical Engineering.

Hello Aspirant,

Considering you are having obc-ncl category then I would suggest that you do have chances to get into IIT Guwahati. However there are certain factors such as number of candidates appearing in the examination, previous year cutoffs and difficulty level of the paper.

For IIT Bombay the chances are slim and a bit dicy so I would suggest you to look for other colleges too.
