NIT Meghalaya Reviews on Infrastructure, Campus, Placement, Facilities & Faculty

The department is accessible 24x7 day or night with permission. There is a high-speed LAN connection with 24x7 access to the library. The department provides user-friendly labs that are accessible easily. The hostel is no less than a 3-star hotel. Rooms are spacious and have an air conditioner. The mess provides good quality food. Other facilities such as sports and games are also good, with a sports complex, an indoor badminton hall, and an air-conditioned gymnasium.

Teachers are very helpful by nature and are ready to help at any time. All faculty members are highly qualified and knowledgeable, with a minimum of 8 years of experience. The learning environment is good. The course curriculum is on par with the course, but it does not make us industry-ready because of a slight lack of practical environment in the course. Semester exams are not so tough, but they require the application of the studies that a student will undergo.

More than 60% of students in our course were placed in various MNCs. The highest package was 21.00 LPA, the minimum was 6.4 LPA, and the average was 7.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies were L & T, Azure Power, ICF, etc. Top roles offered were assistant manager, PGET, and analyst in the companies. Two of the 25 students received internships from DST and CSIR, which are the agencies of the government of India.

There are about 11 hostels on the NIT meghalaya campus. There are eight for boys and 4 hostels for girls. There is a mess available in every hostel and they serve vegetarian foods. The campus has many ins fractures like labs, classrooms, and libraries. The campus is full of Wi-Fi facilities.

Teachers are quite helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is outstanding. Mechanical Engineering's curriculum is relevant. It makes students industry-ready. It is difficult to take the semester exams in this college. The pass percentage is like 87%.

About 75% of students got placed in the Mechanical Engineering branch. The highest package was placed at 40 LPA, the lowest was at 4 LPA and the average package was placed at 9.81LPA. The top recruiting companies are Ford, oracle, Adani, General Electric etc. About 80% of our department students get internships.

The infrastructure is too good. All other facilities, like food facilities, Internet facilities, and library facilities, are always available. Each student gets a single-seater room. The mess committee changes their food according to student reviews; and medical facilities are also available inside campus. A large field for games and sports is provided.

Teachers are very helpful, knowledgeable, qualified, and of a cooperative nature. The teaching quality is almost 9/10. The course curriculum is a little bit of an of an old model. A slight change is needed in the curriculum. The semester exam level is moderate, neither too hard nor too easy for students.

Almost ninety percent of students got placement in previous 5 years. The highest package is in crores, the lowest package is 6 LPA, and the average package is 20 LPA. Top recruiter companies are Microsoft, Google and other MNCs. Almost 80 Percent students got internships in top companies like Texas, LG, Microsoft, etc.

The infrastructure of our college is bad, and the college is still run on the temporary campus. The canteen is very small compared to the number of students on the campus. The condition of the mess hall for students is pathetic, with no water facility sometimes.

Though the faculty members are well qualified, they lack experience, and so their teaching is not up to the mark. The faculty members try their best to complete the syllabus instead of knowing whether the students understood it or not. The faculty members are very open to students and always welcome them for discussions. The level of research is very good.

There are no placements for M.Sc. in our college. Even if the placements are provided sometimes, it is very difficult to sit for the drive because we have to complete with B.Tech students. I heard that there are placements for B.Tech students, especially for the ones in ECE and CSE departments.

Facilities are not so good, but professors are very good. We have Wi-Fi, labs, a library, and separate classrooms. The quality of food is not good in hostels, but in college it is good. Medical facilities are very good; colleges have a separate department for them.

Teachers are very helpful, qualified, and have great knowledge. They try to make students industry-ready. Semester exams have a difficult level. Previously, it had 30% criteria from the 2nd semester; now it has been removed, but 75% attendance criteria are in.

40% to 50% of students were placed, and the highest and lowest packages were INR 12 lac/annum and INR 7 lac/annum, respectively. The average package is INR 10 lacs per year. Some students get internships in different fields during the course duration. For the structural engineering branch, several things are in this college.

For Structural Engineering department, there are separate labs for different courses, e.g., structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, Transportation Engineering, Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering, Engineering Drawing lab, etc. Library facilities are also available for students. As NIT Meghalaya is being operated from its temporary campus, some apartments have been rented as hostels. In hostels, Wi-Fi and mess gym facilities are available and for transportation from hostel to college and vice versa, buses are available.

In NIT Meghalaya, faculty members are helpful and also highly qualified. They are always ready to help students in every field. In NIT Meghalaya, the 50+50+100 rule is being followed for semester exams; from that, 50 marks are from internal evaluation, e.g., class tests, assignments, and viva. 50 marks are for the midterm, and 100 marks are for the endterm examination. Overall, out of 200, the semester has been evaluated.

80% of the batch has been placed with the highest package of 46 LPA and an average package of 13 LPA from structural engineering. Apart from this, from my department, the highest package of 12 LPA and an average package of 5.2 LPA have been placed. Top recruiting companies include Amazon, Winjeet, KEC, Bajaj, Narayana Groups, L&T, Vedanta, Infosys, etc. From structural engineering department, many students got internships at Aditya Birla, SAIL, GAIL, etc.

NIT Meghalaya has a very good infrastructure for computer science courses. The campus of the college is pretty big and beautiful. The campus of the college is lush with greenery. College management offers facilities such as computer labs, libraries, canteens, Wi-Fi, sports, etc. that are properly maintained. The quality of these facilities is also good. A hostel facility is also available for college students. The food in the mess and canteen is also good to eat.

Teachers at NIT Meghalaya are highly qualified and knowledgeable. All the teachers have good experience in the teaching field. They are giving their best for the students. The course curriculum at NIT Meghalaya is relevant and it makes the students industry-ready. Teachers were also helpful and supportive of the students during placements. Exams were of a medium-difficult level in our course.

NIT's have a good record for on-campus placements. Around 60–65% of the students gets successfully placed at NIT Meghalaya in the CSE course. The average package offered at the college for computer science was between 3 and 8 LPA. Top recruiters at the college were Wipro, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Deloitte, Accenture, GAP, etc.

Currently, our campus is working in a temporary campus, so it doesn't have advanced facilities. Labs are equipped with all the necessary equipment that is needed, but slowly the labs are being shifted to the permanent campus, which has all the advanced machines and laboratories. Hostels are quite good.

Faculty are well-qualified, helpful, and knowledgeable. Some teachers teach according to competitive examinations and prepare questions accordingly, while some follow the syllabus, which is still helpful for competitive examinations. The course is relevant, and if you study regularly and pay attention in class, then you can easily get a good score in the examination.

Placements are good here. Almost 90 percent of the students were placed. The main recruiters are KEC International and Narayana. Last year, some of the students were placed in BPCL with an 18 LPA CTC, which was the highest package, and the lowest was 6 LPA in the structural engineering branch. Students did their internships in PWD, AAI, some private companies, and AIT Thailand.

Till now NIT Meghalaya be on its temporary campus, so the campus area is not too large and hostels are within the range of 10 km from the campus but bus facilities are there for transportation. Other than that every facility is available on the campus. Most importantly campus is well-cleaned and very beautiful.

Professors are very supportive and knowledgeable in their respective fields. I have completed my M.Tech from here in the year 2022, the process of admission for M.Tech in NIT Meghalaya is only through GATE CCMT counseling. Final year projects are mostly on trending technologies as per the current industry.

For placement, students should not be fully dependent on the placement officers only instead students should cooperate with them to take the initiative to bring more good companies for the placements. Few brunches like civil and mechanical got fewer placement opportunities. In 2022, 45 CTC was the highest package offered in the CS branch. 12-15 LPA is the average salary offered. 80% of students are placed. College is very supportive even for the post-placement processes.

Compared to many NITs, the fee structure of NIT Meghalaya is a little bit high but as per the location, it is justified. But most of the fees are recovered through the GATE scholarship we can say.

Some past incidents happened between the students and the locals, so if someone wants to avoid those situations it is better not to be too involved in those kinds of incidents. Other than that campus and hostel life is very good and all kinds of facilities like hospitals, restaurants, shops, and transportation are available nearby. Teachers, staff, and students are helpful also.

Excellent infrastructure with all the facilities available, which includes smart classrooms, clean and hygienic chemistry labs, washrooms, hostel, and a mess, and all were well maintained. The mess provided food of great quality.

I studied MSc in chemistry, and the reasearch quality and attitude of professors were very pleasent. The curriculum gets updated every year. The college allows students to serve or work for the Institute which surely gonna make them ready for any jobs.

It's a National institute focused on every domain, it gave us good quality of placements in top companies. The packages offered here is depending on the companies and can vary from 3-4 LPA to 8-9 LPA. T&P cell is there to help and guide students during recruitment drives.

My course feet cost me around 35K per semester for 2 years. It was worth spending such a amount by availing all the facilities provided by the institution. The Institute offered me to inculcate my reasearch further in chemistry field. So, my money got valuable.

The college campus was serene. For the engagement of students, several sports facilities were there. The college also conducts annual sports day, fests, and events to boost the enthusiasm of students. It's location is best and safe. It can handle every type of emergency.

Everyone is this institution is engaged with their specific domain. Also, the societal benefits are considered by giving prime importance.
