NIT Meghalaya is celebrating 100 Years Of Quantum Mechanics from Nov 21-22, 2024.
If you are looking for an Institute with tall buildings, wide fields to play and a huge campus and hostels, welp, this Institute ain't got them. But it sure have all the facilities required to full fill all your needs from tech department to CS to any other departments. We have got CS labs with apple computers, Our own supercomputer, Power system labs, and what not. You will get doctors, consultants etc the only demerit here is the size of the campus which is redeemed by its beautiful location.
Don't think taking electrical in NITM is going to be easy. We've got very strict professors to force you to study their subject and become good at it. As far I have studied and contacted with the seniors the study material that we are being provided is not very up-to-date but it teaches us all the basic fundas required to understand the current situation and the industry. Since we have a department especially for internship and interview preparation, so yeah we cover it all from academics.
Campus placement is taken very seriously here in NIT meghalaya. Due to its remote location maybe we are not getting as much recognition that we deserve but famous companies like Microsoft, IBM, JIO, POSOCO, Delloitte, Nokia, etc do have taken a lot of our alumni under their guidance. Chances of placement is very high here but yes their are categories. Like for best ones it may go as high as 20-24lpa but the average package is as much as 5-6lpa.Be confident and you will do just fine as a sunshine
Why not learn and live in tourist place simultaneously. Welcome to NIT meghalaya. As I said earlier if you need a big acre college, it's not for you. But if you know you are better than that and it's not much importance to you then this college have everything you need. But yeah the college fees is a little high. But there are scholarships and perks that you can avail. Overall it's a good value for money as long as you avail a scholarship with you.
Due to its tourist location, you will love the scenery and closeness to mother nature. It doesn't mean you will get a hut to live, their are hostels alloted outside the campus as it is not that much big. But it's fun to go from hostel to college due to very good scenery etc. Their are regular cultural fests, technical fests, sports competition, coding race and what not. You will always have something to do in your free times. Professors interaction is OK, some are really good and some are strict
I will conclude by saying if are willing to compromise with the looking size of the campus then their is nothing in this college that you will regret maybe you will regret proposing someone but that's other matter. If you want to then I can recommend you this college and don't believe online videos, it's perfectly safe here. Protest? What cities don't you see a protest sometimes, it's all part of life. It's all safe and plus you get to live where others pay to visit for tourism and watch scenery
Dear Aspirant,
The choice of joining NIT Meghalaya is completely upto what you are interested in and what your comfort zone is.
There are a few factors to consider.
1. NIT Meghalaya is a very new campus and hence the faculty, alumni network, course structure, internship.opportunities are all very sloppy.
2. If you aren't looking for continuing in engineering after this, then you can definitely choose Meghalaya campus and you'll be able to get the NIT tag and pursue whatever your passionate about.
3. If you are interested in getting into software companies or engineering after this, then choose some well established private colleges like VIT, Amrita, Manipal.
4. If you are getting core branches in other NITs choose that and learn programming , do software related internships etc.
Hope this helps you in making a decision
Hi,
NIT Meghalaya is a newer NIT as compared to most of the other NITs. It was established in 2010, in Shillong. Students often complain about its not-so-good infrastructure and location/transport problem because of the current temporary campus. However, its permanent campus is under development in Cherrapunji.
