The classrooms in the college are spacious, the laboratories are well equipped with modern amenities, two large playgrounds are there which facilitates various kinds of activities. The hostel rooms are more or less okay with decent and cheap food in hostel.
I am a student of Chemical Engineering in NIT Durgapur and according to me the quality of teaching is nice here with professors well versed in their respective fields. The curriculum of the course is neatly designed which is totally compatible with today's competitive world.
The overall average placement in this college is at an average level or just more than average with average package being 10-12 LPA. Although big tech giants like Microsoft, Google,Amazon and the great PSU giants like IOCL, HPCL, Reliance Industries come for on campus hiring, they are bagged by only a certain no. of students.
The library of nit Durgapur is a center of attraction for everyone. It is 3 storeyed building with digital classrooms. It has a collection of 1 L books. The hostels are very hygenic and each has a seperate mess for each hostel.
I am in the final year of B.tech in metallurgical branch. The course curriculum is not that updated which you will find in IITs ,bits pilani . But many courses are being introduced. Recently , meeting was held on the introduction of instrumentation branch.
Placements of this college particularly in non core branches is very good. Companies like microsoft, Amazon, Deloitte, cognizant, Bajaj, Tata group comes for recruitment. Average package for the metallurgy branch was 6L per annum.
The semester fees in online mode is 95k and in offline mode is 1.1L. But various scholarships are provided for the obc /sc/st students but for general students there are very less. Fee remission is given on the basis of annual income.
The teachers here are very friendly in terms of coordination with the students. Various sports grounds are provided for the students like cricket football basketball. You will get the best mess food in this college.
As I started my college in online and still going so, that's why I have not seen my campus in my eye. But according to seniors NIT DGP has a decent college infrastructure with labs having modern facilities. Hostels have free 24*7 wi-fi facilities.
As it is a college with national importance we have a healthy academical environment. Some professors are good but not all of them. Curriculum is also updated but according to me it is not job-ready after all. As you have to develop your own skill by own and professors are not going to teach you all those stuffs.
NIT DGP has a decent placement scenario with 75 percent+ avg. placement with a avg. CTC 7-8 LPA. Almost 120-130+ companies come for on campus placement along with tech giants, mass recruiter and core companies.
NIT DGP has a campus of 187 acres along with 14 hostels. So you can judge how it could be full of enjoyment along with tech fest and cultural fest every year. Infrastructure of first year hostel (Hall 11) is too good but rest others are not so like Hall 11 the college is old enough and some buildings are old and the process of renovation of them is under process and the mess food avg. of its kind.
Infrastructure needs massive development for this college. Benches, chairs, etc need to be modernized. Some classes don't even have proper working fans. Living spaces are ok. But rooms could do with 2 roommates instead of 3-4 based on the room size. Food quality for some hostels is good. But not same for all hostels. Quantity is sufficient however for all. There are no smartboards in classrooms. Summers can be very tough in Durgapur. Cooling arrangements can be made for the hostel residents.
More effort on rote learning, passing the exams. Not much adherence is given to knowledge gathering. Only a couple of professors treat students humanely. Best is to avoid being targeted. Only one student or two are seen with good eyes.
M.tech placements are horrendous, especially for electrical department. Placement cell is not even bothered about it. Often queries regarding such are not entertained, rather students are driven out from the office of the placement officer.
Not worth it. Some of the other NITs and IITs provide a grander experience. Not much learning is seen. Rather important to be not subjected by professors. Takes a massive toll on mental health and other health related issues for many student. Not worth it.
The best aspect of campus life is the fun that one can have with friends either in the hostel, or being involved in various clubs, to learn new skills, or the least to pass some time. Else not much is present to look forward to.
Library: NIT Durgapur library is a separate three storey building with a collection of 1.5lac volumes consisting of text books, reference books etc.It is equipped with digital library. A CADEMIC BUILDING:There are two separate academic building:new and old.Buildings are equipped with all modern accessories..HOSTEL:College has 7 boys and 2 girls hostel, three of these are single bed rooms for senior students.Recreational rooms and separate mess are present in every hostel.OTHERS:Two sports field a
I am a student of MME and I think my curriculum is updated one and it is efficient in providing jobs.Every subjects is taught with 50%lecture hours,30%lab classes and 20%tutorial classes. My curriculum focus in research and development, industrial knowledge and also helps to gain knowledge in IT sector through different electives.I think this curriculum should be updated by recent developments in this field with more industrial application.
Overall placement ranges from 75%-80% every year.Big tech giants like Microsoft,Amazon,JP Morgan,Flipkart,Goldman Sachs etc visits campus for hiring.Other major companies like HAL,TATA,JINDAL,Haldia petrochemical lmt. also visit.Computer science related stream has highest placement percentage with highest packages(39-43lpa). Mechanical engineering:75%-80%.Electrical engineering:70%-77%.Chemical engineering:65%-70%.MME:55%-60%.Civil engineering:40%-45%.biotech:40%-45%.Average package:7.8lpa
Course cost of this college is 1.3-1.5 lac per year.Under privileged (OBC,SC/ST) and low family income students are provided with Tution fee waiver. This benefit is also available for physically challenged students. In comparison with other government, semi government and private colleges in India this college has low course cost and average median packages. So I find my money's worth studying in this college.
Campus Life in NIT Durgapur is good. There is full freedom inside the campus but time barrier for 1st year students both for boys and girls. Two fest occur every year,Aarohan: annual techno management fest and other Nityamini : cultural fest, both are second most big in eastern India after IIT Kharagpur.Different clubs like CCA,drama club, music club, dance club, and many other clubs like Radio nitroz,Darpan etc are present. They organise many events. It is situated in durgapur, major city of WB.
Gender ratio in this college is good in comparison with other colleges.student teacher relation are also nice.
The college is really well equipped and has improved its infrastructural facilities over time. There is a well stocked central library, two large playgrounds(called popularly as Ovals and Lords),a Student's Activity Centre for workout, sports and other recreational features. The classrooms are spacious ,hostels are well maintained. There is Wifi connectivity in the campus. The departments have been renovated recently and converted to posh classrooms, with beautiful laboratories and digitalisation.
I had studied Chemical Engineering and the faculty was one of the best on campus. The course curriculum is well updated, the projects and experimental work are all in keeping with the need of the subject and makes a person prepare himself well for the industry.Definitely one needs to work hard too.The teachers take classes regularly and even arrange for extra clasees if need be so.
The placements were really good in 2017 and I myself had been placed on campus. For the batch of 2017-2018 around 500 students were placed among 746 students. The median salary was 6 lpa .The placement coordinators were really great and ensured to make the process as smooth as possible.
In 2017 the course fee per year .Yes it was worth the money mainly because the tag definitely plays a major role as it is a Tier c1 ollege in the country and also the faculty and infrastructure is really good. The seniors are also helpful and assist in making the campus a congenial place to live in.
The college has a medical unit for emergencies. The campus is a beautiful place and has a lovely atmosphere. The seniors are friendly and the faculty is great. There are numerous clubs for different extracurricular activities and also fests are an important part of the enjoyment.Freshers' welcome to farewell the journey is really awesome.
The new hostels have large spaces and beautiful infrastructure alongwith hygienic and clean washrooms. The rooms are spacious and the architecture is really nice. The new boy's hostel is also great, however the playground is small.
I'm studying CSE and the quality of teaching is good offline. Unfortunately online it has been difficult for both professors and students. Most professors are passionate about the subject they teach in class.
Placements for CSE/IT is great. It's above 95 percent(excluding mass recruiters). Even the summer internships are great, particularly for CSE/IT and Mechanical students. ECE, EE branches also get good internships.
The fees is high in online because we are doing online classes so it feels bit unreasonable tbh. The access to libraries, professors and other facilities isn't available online so the fees seems high wrt that
Campus life is great, even though it is in a small city. Experience is what we make out of it afterall. Regional engineering colleges were made in 1960's to promote education in remote areas and it surely helped.
Infrastructure is pretty good. Most of the old buildings are being replaced by newer ones. Labs are well equipped and has the NBA accreditation for tier1 college. You will have access to most of the softwares like MATLAB, etc (the college has bought license for the softwares)
If you are genuinely interested in learning you are going to have a lot of opportunities. The professors here have really good knowledge of the subjects and most of them are ready to help. Also professors are engaged in research so you can have a chance to do research work under them.
Placements are above average. Most of the good product based companies like amazon, Microsoft , Qualcomm visit the campus. Jp morgan and goldman sachhs also recruit for software profiles. Cesc ,reliance, tata etc also visit the campus.
The college has all the necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipments. Classrooms and washrooms are pretty clean and are well maintained. The food in the canteen is served in hygienic conditions. We have all the necessary sports equipments. We also have mandatory yoga classes in the 2nd semester.
I am studying Computer Science Engineering because I want to become a software engineer and land a job in good companies. Quality of teaching is really good. The teachers conduct frequent exams to keep check on how much we are learning from the lectures. The present curriculum is up to date is sufficient to make students job ready if studied and applied sincerely.
Placement is good. The placement rate has been around 72% with a total of 116 companies participating. The highest was around 34 LPA in CSE or IT dept. Average CTC was around 9 LPA. The placement process was easy and smooth.
The course fee per year is 1.4 lacs. The hostel fees is still being collected even though we weren't allowed to access the hostels during this pandemic. However the rest of the infrastructure and facilities are totally worth of the fees.
Campus life was cool. No ragging at all. Seniors have been really supportive. Our college has numerous clubs where one can participate and nurture their co curricular and technical skills which often are helpful for placements as well. The college is based in a plant city hence the city design is really beautiful and planned. The area is perfectly safe and has hospitals for handling emergencies as such
The facilities , equipment and laboratories are very good . There is offline online library which you can access . WiFi is below average . Hostels are net and Clean . Canteen food is available at low cost.
I personally think that the curriculum is somewhat repetition of Btech. It could have better . Industrial exposure of my college is bit less for mechanical engineering . Faculties are very good and supportive .
Reputed companies like TCS , Infosys , Lnt , Oracle , Tata visit the campus to give lots of job opportunities to the students . Also many MNCs also visit in our college . Internship opportunities are also get to many students .
Fee structure is feasible . For first year Btech student is 1.5 lacks . Also you can get scholarship if you belong to reserved category. This college is value for money due to its great placement rate.
Infrastructure is not soo good . Sports facilities are not good enough . Yeh hostel facility is quite good . Every year there will be technical festivals and also you will get chance to show your skills and knowledge .
Professors are supportive and alot knowledge of their respective field . For Btech this College is good because of the placement statistics. You can secure sit in this College by securing good rank in JEE mains.
The application process for MBA season generally starts with the opening of the CAT application form which is generally released in the month of August every year by the Indian Institute of Management. This generally mark the beginning of the MBA admission cycle, and after the release of the application form for CAT , other management entrance examination forms along with individual admission forms for non-IIMs are also released. The date of opening and closing of application forms is different for all the institutes.
Hello student,
The opening and closing rank cutoffs for NITs (National Institutes of Technology) can vary significantly each year based on several factors, including the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the JEE Main exam, and the available seats. Here’s a general overview based on previous years:
General Overview of Cutoffs
Top NITs (like NIT Trichy, NIT Surathkal, NIT Warangal):
Mid-Tier NITs (like NIT Jaipur, NIT Rourkela):
Lower-Tier NITs (like NIT Raipur, NIT Agartala):
If you have a specific NIT or branch in mind, let me know, and I can help you find more detailed information!
Hi
hope you doing well
For NIT Durgapur , the cutoffs are lower for home-state candidates in some branches. Based on previous years' trends, here are your chances:
Some lower branches:
Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
Biotechnology
Production Engineering
you stand a decent chance of getting lower-demand branches like Metallurgical, Biotechnology, or Production Engineering at NIT Durgapur under home-state quota. Ensure you participate in all rounds of counseling and CSAB Special Rounds to maximize your chances.
